Abriella shot out her hand and grabbed Mandy by the collar, yanking her right out of the crowd.

The force of it took everyone by surprise. Mandy’s friends, who’d been holding her up just a second ago, let go without even thinking.

Mandy went sheet white, panic twisting her face as she scrambled to push Abriella’s hand away.

“I’m telling Mom! Dad and Mom are going to punish you! You’re finished! This house is going to be mine anyway—”

Smack. Smack.

Abriella delivered two crisp slaps, cutting Mandy off mid-threat.

“Go ahead, tell them. I’m not living at home anymore, and I don’t care if I ever have to see their fake faces again.”

She leaned in close, her lips nearly brushing Mandy’s ear, voice low and deadly.

“Go run and tattle. When you’re done, I’ll come back and rip your tongue out.”

Mandy froze, her whole body trembling like a leaf caught in a storm. Her face was red and already starting to swell, terror written all over her.

She couldn’t hold it in anymore. Suddenly she broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

Her friends finally snapped out of it and started yelling at Abriella.

“Abriella, what’s wrong with you? Are you crazy? Stop it!”

“Have you got any manners at all? How did the Sullivan family end up with someone like you?”

“Maybe think about why Uncle and Auntie like Mandy more than you.”

Abriella didn’t even blink. She just tightened her grip.

Mandy’s cheek puffed up, red and angry.

Isabel pulled her phone out of her bag in a hurry.

“Abriella, hit her one more time and I’m calling the cops!”

That finally made Abriella let go. She dropped Mandy, who scrambled over to Isabel, collapsing at her feet and bawling so hard she could barely breathe.

“Call them! Isabel, please! Call the police! Get this psycho locked up! I want her arrested!”
