Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 357

Harrison grabbed Carmel’s arm, and immediately noticed how slender and fragile he felt beneath his grip. Disdain flickered across Harrison’s face.

How could this scrawny little mutt possibly think he was good enough to touch his woman?

“Harrison! What are you doing?!” Selene snapped, her voice sharp as she tried to pry Harrison’s hand off Carmel.

“Let him go!”

When Harrison saw Selene step between them, shielding Carmel behind her, a sudden surge of anger shot through him. He yanked his hand away from Carmel with disgust and glared at Selene.

“Why are you always hanging around with these weaklings? This guy’s just like Adrian Shaw—soft, fragile, always acting helpless and needing you to protect them!”

Harrison’s frustration was obvious.

Selene shot him a withering look. “Well, I happen to like men like them.”

Harrison stared at her, stunned, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Wasn’t he exactly the type Selene liked? In his eyes, Adrian and Carmel were cut from the same cloth—both looked so delicate, he could easily overpower them if he wanted. Yet, maybe because they always hid behind Selene, she was growing more and more distant from him.

Harrison’s jaw clenched, a vein throbbing at his temple.

Just then, Daph piped up with her sweet, earnest little voice, “The elevator was shaking really badly just now, and Carrie protected me and Mom. Mr. Vaughn, you shouldn’t be so mean to Carrie!”

Her words were careful and deliberate.

Harrison turned to her. “So, you like him?”

He was talking about Carmel, and Daph nodded without hesitation.

“I like Carrie best!”

“Do you like him more than Adrian?” Harrison pressed, hoping for some validation.

“Um…” Daph blinked her long lashes, clearly giving the question serious thought.

“I guess I like Carrie a little more!”

But she didn’t notice the growing storm on Harrison’s face. His handsome features were clouded over with jealousy and confusion.

To Harrison, “Mom and Carrie stay up late talking” sounded a lot more suggestive than Daph intended.

A fracture appeared in his steely gaze as he demanded of Carmel, “You two even sleep together?”

Carmel gave him a look usually reserved for idiots. She knew Harrison still thought she was a man.

“Yeah, and who are you to care? Whatever Selene and I do is none of your business!”

Harrison’s jaw tightened, his expression growing harsher. “She’s already Adrian’s girlfriend. Are you trying to be the other man?”

Carmel slid an arm around Selene’s shoulders, lifting her chin with youthful defiance and a cocky grin.

“So what if Adrian’s her boyfriend? I’m her true love.”

Selene laughed, her voice warm with affection. “That’s right,” she said, looking at Carmel with unmistakable fondness.
