Chapter 19
Dorothy pursed her lips. The last time she checked, Dwayne knew her relationship with the Acosta family was strained.]
Her parents had shown up at Aliyah’s birthday party one year, and Bryson had gotten drunk and said something indecent.]
Till now, she still remembered the looks on the Lambert family’s faces.]
That day, she had stepped up to stop Bryson, only to be pushed by him.[]
She had fallen to the floor and broken a glass, and the shards had cut her palm.
But she didn’t blame Bryson. He probably didn’t mean it–he was drunk, after all.]
She blamed Dwayne, who had stood nearby and done nothing.
Dwayne hadn’t asked her how she was.
But now…
He was concerned about her?]
Her gaze turned cold. “Do you really have to ask?“]
Dwayne scoffed, “You’re such a pushover.“]
She clenched her fists, her face turning pale.]
“You’re my wife, yet you let others slap you. Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong.”
It almost sounded like he was talking to her as her husband.
It seemed his implication was, she was his wife and didn’t deserve to be treated unfairly.
But he overlooked one thing.]
A peculiar feeling stirred within her, and she said after a few seconds of silence, “Rogelio has been detained. I want you to get him a lawyer team.
She knew Dwayne had always attached great importance to his reputation and rarely done such favors. So, instead of asking him to step in, she wanted him to get Rogelio some lawyers to work something out.
Her request wasn’t excessive.
Dwayne stared at her, his gaze scrutinizing. “Are you asking for a favor?”
Test She added, worrying that he still wouldn’t agree, “This will be the last favor I ask from you. In exchange, I’ll say yes to any term
you make, including a divorce.”
His gaze deepened imperceptibly.[]
Just as he was about to respond, someone called him.[]
