POV: Seraphina
The storm broke as quickly as it had arrived. By dawn, the wind had died down to a whisper, and the sea, though still unsettled, was no longer a churning, violent monster. A pale, watery sunlight filtered through the clouds, washing the island in a clean, new light. It was a morning for new beginnings.
It was a morning for endings.
The expulsion was scheduled for the first light. I stood on the main pier at the port, the air cool and damp against my skin. The ground was littered with fallen leaves and debris from the storm, the last remnants of the chaos that had been unleashed upon us.
I didn't need to be here. Jax could have handled it. Killian could have overseen it. But this was a sentence I had to deliver myself. It was the final, formal severing. The last page of the darkest chapter of my life.
I watched as he was marched down the pier by four of my guards. He wasn't in chains, but he might as well have been. He walked with the slow, shuffling gait of a man heading to his own execution. He was clean, and someone had given him a change of clothes, but it did nothing to hide the utter desolation in his eyes. He looked like a walking corpse, his soul already departed.
His yacht, a vessel of sleek, arrogant power just two days ago, now looked like a ghost ship, battered by the storm, its black paint streaked with salt.
The guards shoved him toward the boarding ramp. He stopped, his gaze finding mine. There was no fight left in him. No pleas, no excuses. Only a vast, hollow emptiness that mirrored the one he had left in my own soul for so long.
I walked toward him, stopping just out of his reach. My voice was not angry. It was not hateful. It was as calm and flat as the sea before me.
"This is the last time we will see each other, Damian," I said. The words were not a threat, but a simple statement of an unalterable fact. "Your presence has brought nothing but pain and destruction to me and my family. That ends today."
