Ex-Alpha's Regret: Siren's Comeback novel Chapter 49

POV: Damian

I didn't wait for my guards to get into position. An overwhelming, primal urge drove me forward. I strode toward the large, rusted metal door of the warehouse, the mud sucking at my boots. I just had to see her, to understand the blood, the void, the terror that was consuming me.

But just as my hand reached for the handle, the door creaked open from the inside.

Jax Thorne stood in the doorway. He was a silent, imposing mountain of lethal intent, dressed in black tactical gear. His face was a blank mask, but his eyes were like chips of ice, fixed on me with a look of pure, murderous hatred.

"Jax," I said, the name catching in my throat. Then the rage took over, a welcome shield for the fear. "Where is Seraphina? Give me back my Luna!"

"Your Luna?" Jax's voice was quiet, terrifyingly calm, each word a drop of poison. "You still have the nerve to call her that?"

"Don't play games with me!" I took a step forward, unleashing my Alpha aura, a crushing wave of power meant to bring him to his knees.

He didn't move an inch. His own powerful aura met mine like a wall of granite. The air between us crackled, thick with raw, violent energy. The ground at our feet seemed to tremble.

"Before you see her," Jax said, his voice now laced with cold, deadly promise, "you're going to tell me exactly what you did to her."

Words were useless now. Only the raw, primal language of Alphas remained. With a roar, I lunged at him. He met me with a low snarl of his own.

"You let that whore take her place, destroy her mother's heirlooms, and banish her loyal servants!"

Another punch drove the air from my lungs.

"And on the anniversary of her mother's death, you gave that bitch the symbol of her family's honor, of her own bloodline!"

His voice was thick with a contempt and hatred that was absolute, and with each accusation, my confusion grew into a cold, creeping dread.
