Ex-Wife's Revenge (Alaricka) novel Chapter 275

Chapter275

The woman froze momentarily before realizing the nurse’s sarcastic tone, then erupted in fury.

“Fine! You asked for this! I’m calling my uncle right now!”

Clutching the nurse’s sleeve with one hand and gripping Alarieka Huston’s wheelchair with the other, she fiercely pulled out her phone.

The nurse sighed helplessly, glancing at Alarieka Huston’s cast- covered ankle. “With your leg broken, I’m guessing you weren’t the one who splashed the water?”

Alarieka Huston shook her head, lifting her nearly soaked trousers. Their eyes met in shared resignation.

Minutes later, Alarieka Huston was genuinely stunned-the woman actually had an uncle who was the hospital director.

The nurse visibly stiffened upon seeing the approaching middle-aged man, snapping upright: “Director.”

The man stood around five-foot-seven, ordinary-looking with black- framed glasses. A shrewd glint flashed in his eyes as he scanned the room. His gaze lingered for a few seconds on Alarieka Huston’s clean, w seconds on Alarieka Huston’s clean, pale face before slowly shifting away.

The woman strode over, looping her arm through his. “Uncle, you’ve got to set things right.”

Her uncle’s brow furrowed slightly. “What happened?”

She launched into an embellished account, weaving fabrications about

Alaricka Huston and the nurse. Tearfully, she yanked her son forward, displaying his arm as if it bore a terminal illness. The director’s frown deepened with each exaggerated detail.

“Uncle, these nurses know nothing. Please examine Hanghang yourself-only then will I feel at ease.”

He shot a stern look at Alarieka Huston and the nurse before extending his hand. “Come here, Hanghang. Let Uncle check you.”

The boy shuffled forward pitifully, offering his arm. “Look, Uncle. See how badly I’m burned?”

The director frowned while examining the boy’s burn. After a moment, his shrewd eyes flicked toward the woman. “The burn is indeed severe. Let’s discuss compensation directly.”

The woman’s brow instantly furrowed. She hugged the boy

protectively, her voice thick with anguish. “My poor Hanghang. Mom will make this right. I won’t let anyone bully you.”

The boy pouted and nodded. “Okay.”

The nurse stared in disbelief. “But how? Director, this burn isn’t-”

The director shot her a stern look, his voice dropping low. “You’re Liu from orthopedics?”

The nurse nodded hesitantly. “Yes.”

“Your professional knowledge is lacking,” he stated coldly. “I’ll have the head nurse retrain you.”

The nurse paled, fingers twisting her uniform hem as she glanced helplessly at the others. “But Director, his injury was clearly-”

“Am I the director here, or are you?” he snapped.

Her head bowed, voice barely a whisper. “Understood, Director.”

The woman rose, chin lifted triumphantly.

“Not just this nurse! You-the one in the wheelchair-you burned my son! Now that the hospital director has spoken, you can’t escape. Pay for my son’s medical bills immediately! And since he’s missing school because of this burn, you’ll cover his tuition losses too. I have a job-if I lose wages caring for him, you’ll compensate that as well!”

The boy stuck out his tongue at Alarieka, sneering. “Nyah nyah! Pay up, you wicked woman!”

Alarieka met their gazes icily, maneuvering her wheelchair to leave.

Making a fuss without reason.

Not another word wasted on them.

The woman’s eyes flashed. Emboldened by her uncle the director, she lunged forward, seizing Alarieka’s wrist and violently yanking her off the wheelchair.

Alarieka braced the moment the woman moved-but forgot her fractured left ankle. Agony tore through her at the slightest shift, sapping all strength. The woman’s grip was iron; Alarieka crashed onto the floor.

She landed hard on her left side, leg trapped beneath her weight. White-hot pain flooded her, draining all color from her face.

The woman merely snorted at Alarieka’s pallor, snarling as she fisted Alarieka’s collar and hauled her upper body off the ground. “Think you can run? Pay first!”
