The next night, Eugene returned to Blue Oasis. Vivian spotted him almost immediately and hurried over, eager to keep him company.
Just like before, Eugene kept his distance—warm, polite, but never quite inviting her in. When he left, he tipped her even more generously than last time.
Vivian was genuinely smitten now. She flashed him a flirtatious smile. “It’s so late, Mr. Winters. Can you really sleep alone tonight?”
Eugene’s lips curled into a gentle smile. “What can I do? I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Vivian leaned closer, a coy blush coloring her cheeks. “Who needs a girlfriend when you have me? How about we go somewhere more private? I’d love to hear more about your life, Mr. Winters.”
Eugene’s response was cool, but not unkind. “I’m not a fan of hotel rooms. Do you have anywhere else in mind?”
Vivian hesitated, her gaze flickering. “Why not… my place?”
Ordinarily, she would never bring a client home. Not even Harry, who’d spent a fortune on her, had ever seen so much as her front door. But Eugene was a prize catch—a golden opportunity she couldn’t bear to let slip away.
She wanted nothing more than to reel him in, to carve out a piece of his wealth for herself.
Eugene considered for a moment. “Alright.”
Concealing her excitement, Vivian directed him to her apartment.
Eugene drove. Halfway there, Vivian’s phone lit up with Harry’s name. She frowned and declined the call without hesitation.
“Someone trying to reach you?” Eugene asked.
“No one important. Just a pest who won’t leave me alone.” She shrugged off her jacket, her pale skin catching the dim light as she slid closer to him. “You don’t come out to places like Blue Oasis very often, do you, Mr. Winters?”
Eugene kept his eyes on the road. “Work keeps me busy.”
Vivian laughed softly. “Of course—I’ve heard your family runs a big business. You must be the heir, right? That’s a lot of responsibility. But everyone says you need to balance work and play. You should come by more often. When you’re stressed, I’ll help you unwind.”
