Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1978

The document laid out everything about the major families in the States—names, connections, all of it, crystal clear. Honestly, Jane’s flash drive couldn’t have shown up at a better time.

She really wasn’t the same Jane anymore. Even if she didn’t say a word, you could bet she’d already figured out most of what was going on.

Fiona recognized nearly every company listed. Most of them had tried to cozy up to International Glam at some point. But none of their offers were even close to reasonable—Tyler had shot them all down without a second thought.

Out of all those companies, only a few pharmaceutical ones had ties with the M Country Research Institute. It made sense, given the Institute’s focus on medicine. Fiona decided that was the perfect place to start digging.

The classroom had been loud and chaotic, but as soon as Amy walked in, the noise died instantly. Everyone just stared at her, stunned.

Amy paused at the door, biting her lip, completely unsure where to go. She didn’t even know where her seat was.

It was obvious to anyone paying attention how uncomfortable she felt. But, of course, that just made some people want to dig in even more.

“Well, well, look who it is! Ms. Gregory doesn’t even know where she sits now?”

“Is it even possible for people who aren’t twins to look so much alike?”

“Who knows? Maybe she’s just trying to stir up drama after bombing at the design contest. You guys actually buy her act?”

“Does it matter what we believe? As long as the teachers are fooled, she gets to stick around. That’s all that counts.”

Amy hovered by the door, unsure what to do. She tried asking someone in the front row for help, but nobody even looked at her.

You could feel the rejection, one cold shoulder after another.

“Your seat’s over here,” Jane called, standing up and pointing to an empty chair a row away.

“You made the mess,” Amy said, her voice suddenly firmer—she was clearly annoyed now.

The girl just smirked, eyes shining with mean amusement. “Well, I don’t have any tissues either.”

“You have a jacket,” Amy shot back, her voice icy.

Before the girl could react, Amy grabbed her expensive leather jacket off the desk, wiped down her chair with it, and set it back—cool as can be.

She didn’t hesitate for a second. The whole class watched, wide-eyed.

The girl stared at her now-wet designer jacket, looking like she was about to explode.
