Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time (by Zora Pradeep) novel Chapter 136

Chapter 136

After hanging up, Maggie drove back home.

Meanwhile, in the hospital.

Isabella and Franklin were still in the ward talking to Julia,

Levi had stepped out into the corridor to make a phone call.

He called Harry and said, “Frank is preparing to divorce Maggie.”

Harry, who was out of town, stopped in his tracks upon hearing this.

“What?” he responded, pausing. “Are you sure?”

“Of course, I was there at the scene. What’s uncertain?” Levi added, “Also, Frank hasn’t given her custody

of Isabella.”

Harry clenched his phone tightly.

Levi continued, “But-

Before he could finish, Harry interrupted him, saying, “I have to handle something first. I’ll call you back

Without waiting for Levi to speak, he hung up the phone.

Levi was left in silence. “…What’s so urgent?”

While Levi was mumbling to himself, Harry had already found Maggie’s number. He hesitated before dialing.

A few seconds later, he went ahead and called.

Maggie had just returned home and, upon seeing his call, she answered casually, “Mr. Becker, is there something you need?”

“You-”

He actually didn’t know how to broach the subject of her and Franklin’s matter.

How are you?” These words, in his current position, even felt out of place.

Maggie thought he was calling to arrange a meeting with Daisy.

She noticed his hesitation and quickly said, “If it’s about meeting Daisy, I have something to handle tomorrow and might not be free. Could we meet the day after or next week?”

Earlier, Johnny had called her and mentioned that he had already arranged a lawyer for her. She was meeting the lawyer tomorrow morning.

She needed to settle the divorce issue as soon as possible.

Harry realized that she misunderstood, but he didn’t correct her. Instead, he simply said, “Alright.”

At this point, Maggie assumed the conversation was over, but when Harry didn’t hang up, she asked, “Mr. Becker, is there anything else?”

Harry could sense that Maggie’s voice was calm, seemingly without the pain or heartbreak he expected.

But was it really like that?

Perhaps she was just suppressing her emotions?

After a few seconds of silence on his end, Maggie asked again, “Mr. Becker? Are you still there?”

Harry came back to his senses and said, “I’m here.”

Both he and Levi felt that Maggie wouldn’t easily give up custody of Franklin.

This situation didn’t make sense.

Levi then asked, “So, why do you think that is?

Before Harry could respond, Levi continued, “Could she be trying to win back Frank’s affection, making him feel guilty?”

Harry remained silent.

Admittedly, considering Maggie’s feelings for Franklin, it was possible.

He thought for a moment before asking, “What about Frank? How did he react?

“Frank was also quite surprised. When we were having dinner at the old mansion today, I felt like he was paying more attention to Maggie than usual.

Damn, if my guess is right, then Maggie really has some tricks up her sleeve. We can’t underestimate her!”

Harry replied indifferently, “Maybe she really does want a divorce.

Levi froze. “You mean Maggie?” He sneered, “No way. She’s been in love with Frank since she was a teenager. After all these years, she could never bear to leave him, right?”

Harry’s words were double–edged as he said, “People change.”

Levi insisted, “I still don’t think that’s possible.”

At this point, he added, “Regardless, this is a good thing for Frank. When you’re back from your trip and when Julia is feeling better, we should celebrate properly.”

As he spoke, Levi belatedly realized that Harry had fallen silent.
