Whenever it concerned Ray, he always looked wary.

She thought, ‘What does he want with that probing look?‘

Athena deliberately provoked him, “I want to hear it.”

Athena knew what he was worried about. the harvest was bad this year, and the new King had granted a three- year tax exemption upon his succession.
