As they were speaking, a soft sound came from outside the window.

Xander gave Athena a look.

A dark figure silently landed on the windowsill. It was the commander of the dark guards.

“Your Highness, we’ve found Deaglan.”

The dark guard knelt on one knee, his voice very low as he said, “He is being held under house arrest by Curtis in a Retreat Villa in the west of the city, attended by only two senior servants.”

“Very well.”

Xander nodded. “Tonight, take a team to Aeridon Prison and rescue Deaglan’s eldest son.

“Remember to do it cleanly and leave no trace.”

The dark guard respectfully said, “Yes, Your Highness.”

The guard took the order and left. Athena looked out the window in the deep night and whispered, “Tonight is going to be uneasy.”

Xander held her hand and said softly, “It’s been too quiet for too long. It’s time for some waves.

“Tomorrow morning, let’s go and meet Deaglan, the neglected second master of the Blumenfeld family.”

The next morning, Xander and Athena changed into plain clothes and went to the Retreat Villa in the west of the city with several guards.

Before they reached the gate of the courtyard, they heard a quarrel coming from inside.

They saw two men in the guard uniforms of the Blumenfeld family cursing at a senior man with gray hair.

“You’re just a disgraced and useless person, and you still want to eat fresh porridge?”

The tall guard kicked over the food jar in the corner and said barbarously, “His Highness has ordered that you only get two bowls of swill every day. Do you think you are still the young master you were back then?”

The other guard grinned and tried to snatch the medicine bag from the senior servant’s hand.

The guard stepped forward and grabbed his collar. “If you weren’t a member of the Blumenfeld family, you would have been killed! Glare at me again, and I’ll dig out your eyeballs.”

Athena’s heart tightened as she was about to step forward, but Xander gently held her back.

He gave his bodyguards a look, and his two bodyguards instantly stepped forward to restrain those two guards, pressing them to the ground.

Xander gestured for his bodyguards to drag those two guards down before slowly saying, “Deaglan, your son has safely returned to the Retreat Villa.”

Deaglan looked up abruptly, his eyes filled with shock. “You rescued my son? Who exactly are you people?”

“Who we are is not important. What is important is that we can help you take back everything that belongs to you.”

Xander placed the secret letter on the table. “Curtis is guilty of colluding with the enemy and betraying his country. The evidence is irrefutable.

“If you can present this to the imperial court, you will not only save your son, but also clear your name after so many years of injustice.”

Deaglan looked at the secret letter, then glanced at the porcelain bowl shards on the ground. His fingers trembled as he flipped through a few pages, his face growing paler and paler.

He looked up abruptly, a flash of determination in his eyes. “What do you want me to do?”

“It’s simple,” Xander said calmly. “You publicly expose Curtis’s crimes at the Blumenfeld family party in three days.

“When the time comes, the imperial court’s army will enter the city on time and take over the military power of Aeridon.”

“You are people from the imperial court,” said Deaglan, coughing violently.

He carefully looked at Xander and Athena, and suddenly his eyes widened.

Facing Xander, he bowed and said, “I, the humble man, bow to the Regent.”
