Chapter 190

Caelan nodded. ‘I should thank him. Finally, he can rest easy knowing he can hand you over to me safely.”

“What about you? Your father killed himself… are you okay? Why did he do it?”

Caelan’s hands stilled for a moment, then resumed chopping vegetables. “Because I killed Lucian. It broke him completely.” His voice was matter-of-fact, devoid of emotion. He told me he never wanted me, that even when my mother was pregnant, he wished I was

dead.”

“He never deserved to be a father.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore.” Caelan glanced at me over his shoulder. “I have you, and that’s enough. But don’t worry I’ll never treat our children that way. I’m going to be an amazing father.”

I reached out and swatted his arm playfully. “Who said anything about having your babies?”

He turned and kissed me quickly, his lips warm against mine.

When he pulled back, I fixed him with a serious look. “Now it’s your turn to confess, Caelan.”

I paused, letting my gaze sharpen. “What else have you been hiding from me? I want to know every single truth.”

Caelan blinked innocently. “Sabi…”

“Don’t even think about using that expression to get out of this.” I laughed softly. “I’m completely clear-headed right now.”

“Remember that watch Peter gave you?” he asked, avoiding my eyes.

I narrowed mine. “The so-called apology gift?”

“That… was actually my idea for him to give it to you.” Caelan’s gaze stayed fixed on the cutting board.

I pushed away from the island and walked toward him. “Keep talking.”

“It’s Luna’s Legacy – my grandmother’s heirloom meant for the future Blackwood queen.”

His hand reached out to cup my cheek. “There’s an inscription on the back: “Time witnesses true love, true love transcends time… just like us.”

I raised my hands to pummel his chest, but he caught my wrists easily.

And… that night at the bar. His voice dropped lower.

I went completely still.

“When you were drunk and said you saw me, when you cried and called for me to come out… that wasn’t a hallucination.”

“I was really there, watching you from the shadows.”

“After you passed out drunk, I followed you home.

“I snuck into your apartment and took care of you.”

Chapter 190

My eyes widened with each revelation. “So that night, my body’s reaction…”

Heat flooded my cheeks. “That wasn’t a wet dream… it was real?”

I covered my face with both hands, my voice muffled through my fingers. “Oh my God… what did you see?”

Caelan gently pulled my hands away from my face. “I saw the woman I love responding to my body. And you taste so sweet. I really enjoyed eating you.”

“You voyeuristic pervert! Freak!” I chased after him around the kitchen island.

Caelan dodged, laughing. “I almost lost control that night. You have no idea how tempting you were.”

“Then why didn’t you…?” I lunged for his neck, trying to get him in a headlock.

“Because I wanted you to give yourself to me willingly when you were fully conscious. He turned and trapped me between the counter and his body.

One arm circled my waist while the other continued stirring the pan. “Taste this for seasoning.”

He lifted a fork with a piece of meat to my lips. I opened my mouth to accept it, but some of the juice dribbled down my chin.

Caelan wiped it away with his thumb, then sucked the digit clean. “Very sweet.”

“Any other secrets?” I wrapped my arms around his waist from behind, pressing my face against his back.

“None that I can think of right now.” Caelan leaned into my embrace.

“Well, if I think of any questions, you have to answer honestly.”

“Yes, my queen.”

We sat across from each other at the small dining table. I was still wearing only his shirt, the fabric gaping slightly at the neckline.

Caelan kept reaching across to adjust my collar. “If this keeps up, we might not finish eating.”

I deliberately tugged at the shirt’s hem, making it ride higher. “Then don’t look.”

“You know I can’t do that.” His eyes darkened with desire.

The next morning, the first rays of sunlight crept through the curtain gaps, painting golden stripes across the bed.

I was curled against Caelan’s chest, my head pillowed on his heartbeat. One of his hands rested on my waist, fingers splayed possessively across my skin.

I woke first, blinking sleepily as I tilted my head up to study the sharp line of his jaw. Without thinking, I pressed a soft kiss to his

chest.

He stirred immediately, those blue eyes opening to find mine.

“Good morning, my queen.” His voice was low and gravelly with sleep, utterly captivating.

“Good morning, my king.” I smiled and burrowed deeper into his embrace.

Chapter 190

Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong.

The doorbell’s shrill intrusion shattered our peaceful morning. I frowned against his chest.

“Who’s bothering us this early…”

The ringing continued, becoming more insistent.

Ding dong ding dong ding dong.

I nudged Caelan’s leg with my foot. “Go answer it…”

Caelan tightened his hold on me. “Ignore it.”

“But it’s so loud…” I complained, my voice taking on a whining quality.

The doorbell seemed determined to torment us, ringing even more frequently.

“I can’t stand it anymore!” I scrambled out from under the covers.

My hair was a complete disaster, my eyes still puffy from sleep, and the wrinkled shirt hung off me like a dishrag. But I was too annoyed to care.

I padded barefoot to the front door, not bothering to check the peephole before yanking it open in irritation.

Peter and Elena stood in the hallway. Elena held a coffee cup and a breakfast bag in her hands.

All three of us froze. The air seemed to crystallize around us.

Peter’s eyes bulged like saucers, his mouth dropping open wide enough to catch flies.

Elena’s coffee cup stopped halfway to her lips, her expression shifting from a cheerful smile to pure shock in milliseconds.

We stared at each other in absolute silence for three full seconds.
