CHAPTER 021

SOFIA’S POV

The juice still in my hand, my fingers tightened around the cold glass as those memories came flooding back to

  1. me.

After I saw that familiar woman next to him in the photos, everything became painfully clear: if I wanted Ethan back, I would have to fight for it.

No, I deserved him. That woman Lauren, as I later learned was standing where I was meant to be. And I wasn’t about to let that happen.

I promised myself, right then and there, that I would do everything in my power to get that slut out of his life.

To reclaim what was mine.

Ethan belonged to me; his wealth, his power, his attention it was all supposed to be mine from the start.

After that day, I couldn’t sleep properly. My mind was on fire, twisting and turning around the same thought: How do I get him back?

Then, the perfect plan slowly took shape.

Since Ethan had become a public figure, everything about him was out there: the events he attended, the places he dined, even photos of him arriving at his company headquarters Black Corporations.

I began watching his every move, carefully, methodically.

Each day after work, I’d spend hours online scrolling through recent news, gossip blogs, and business reports. I made notes in my phone times, locations, and the names of his business associates.

After almost a week of following his routine, I noticed something. Ethan’s life, despite its glamour, was painfully predictable. He left the office at the same time every day. 6 p.m. sharp.

He followed the same road home, in the same convoy: three vehicles, all black, windows tinted.

It was finally time to set my plan into motion.

It was a Monday evening when I decided to do it. I remember checking my reflection in a store window nearby: I looked perfect. My hair was loosely curled, my makeup flawless but not overdone, and I wore a fitted dress that hugged my curves just right. Even in an accident,I needed to look irresistible.

The street was busy, the city humming with tired workers heading home. I waited, pretending to scroll on my phone, my heart beating faster with every passing second. 6 p.m. on the dot.

From a distance, I saw the familiar shape of the convoy approaching. A small, satisfied smile curled on my lips. I had memorized Ethan’s license plate days ago one quick glance, and yes, there it was: his car.

The traffic light ahead turned yellow, and I knew the convoy would slow to a near stop.

It was now or never.

I rushed forward, stepping right in front of the first vehicle. The driver hit the brakes hard, the tires screeching on the asphalt. The car barely nudged me- just enough to make it look believable.

I let myself fall to the ground, clutching my right arm dramatically, twisting my face into an expression of pain. Inside, my heart was racing with triumph, but outside, I looked like a helpless victim.

The driver jumped out of the car, his face pale. Ma’am! Are you okay? I didn’t see you

I didn’t respond, just kept rolling slightly, whimpering like I was in real agony. I wanted him to come out.

Ethan.

I wasn’t here to talk to a driver. I needed Ethan’s attention. It worked. Moments later, I heard that familiar voice

deeper than I remembered, but still undeniably his.

What’s going on here?Ethan asked sharply, his tone cold and controlled.

The driver turned to him nervously. Sir, this woman just jumped out of nowhere. I couldn’t avoid her.

Then Ethan looked down at me, his expression filled with concern. “Miss, are you alright?he asked, his voice low but urgent.

Pain shot through my side as I tried to sit up, my hand instinctively moving to cradle my ribs. I forced myself to wince, letting out a shaky breath.

My whole body hurts,I managed to say, even though deep down, I knew it was a lie. The ache in my chest wasn’t physical it was the ache of waiting, of planning, of wanting this moment to unfold just right.

―—

Ethan was about to speak again when I saw it happen the flicker of recognition. His brows drew together, eyes narrowing as his mind scrambled to remember where he’d seen my face before.

Then, softly but with growing certainty, he said, Sofia?

Yesss. It worked. The name hung in the air, and inside, I celebrated like a child getting exactly what she wanted. But outwardly, I kept my face carefully controlled, just the right blend of surprise and relief.

Raising my head, I met his gaze. Ethan?I let the name fall from my lips as though it had caught me off guard. My acting was perfect, even I almost believed it.

Without hesitation, he stepped forward and gently helped me to my feet. His touch was careful, almost protective, and for a moment I let myself lean into it. Before I could say anything else, he guided me to his convoy that smelled faintly of leather and expensive cologne and drove me straight to the hospital.

At the hospital, and just like I had predicted, he took me to the closest hospital down that road. I told him I couldn’t wait for him to take me to a private expensive hospital.

Why did I lead him down to a specific hospital? Because I had paid a doctor there to attend to me and tell him my condition was serious, it was all part of the plan

We eventually got there and he hovered by my side, waiting anxiously as the doctor examined me. Afterward, we exchanged contacts. His number flashed across my screen, and I saved it with a small, hidden smile. From then on, he started coming to check up on me regularly. At first, he acted like it was out of guilt or concern, but I could
