Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1548

'A Relic of the Past?' Sylas saw the announcement much the same as everyone else.

He wasn't exactly sure why the system felt it was necessary to tell everyone what he was up to. His mother was also going to scold him all the more when she realized that he had actually left their meeting for this.

In reality, Sylas had a good reason. He wanted to satisfy his Pride Madness Key first, then relax a bit.

From what he could tell, the Pride Madness Key didn't actually seem to want to harm him, and there shouldn't be the same penalties for failure that the Greed Madness Key had.

That said, he also wanted to try and "overfeed" the Pride Madness Key to see if it could cover the weaknesses he had exposed to the Gluttony Madness Key.

This aside, the implication in the words Relic of the Past seemed to imply that there was more than just the City of Glass. There were definitely other cities to conquer.

This City of Glass in specific was just probably one of the more exposed ones. It was in the Africor Continent, and with the death of the three Monarchs, the region had become greatly destabilized.

That scent of blood Sylas had smelled was certainly others attempting to conquer the city and failing in his absence.

He wasn't upset by this. In fact, he knew of a stronger city than the City of Glass.

The City of Gold should be a Gold City at the very worst, and Sylas also knew exactly where it was. But he hadn't gone to challenge it, wanting to start here first to see what he was getting himself into.

That said...

'This might be an opportunity,' Sylas thought.

He was the Progenitor of Earth; he was the reason everyone was alive and had succeeded in the Summoning, but how many citizens of Earth actually knew that?

Too few. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

It was only made worse by the fact there were so many traitors that the ones who could have had enough insider information to explain were mostly dead.

If Earth projected this challenge every time someone attempted it, how many failures had the people of Earth already seen?

Sylas' eyes cleared, and he found himself standing on a battlefield. Winds howled and hail pelted from above as heavy as falling arrows. They lashed out against his skin, threatening to draw blood.

Sylas could imagine that most people of Earth would have died to the environment alone —either frozen or pelted to death.

But then the army at a distance began to rise. Humanoids formed of blown glass riding on wolves and polar bears with fur spiked in white.

All of their eyes glowed blue, shimmering with an oppressive chill and menace.

Every Relic of the Past on Earth had practically become no different from a shiny cemetery. There was no escaping with your life. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel-fire.net
