Night deepened.

Marion showed up at Andrew's study, but he wasn't there.

Marion frowned. When the door clicked shut behind him, he sensed something off and turned to leave. Then he saw Debra blocking the doorway.

"It's you." His frown deepened. "Move."

"Andrew told me to wait for you here," she said, smiling with her hands behind her back.

"Tell him to come out," he demanded.

"That won't work. He said tonight you're mine to mess with, however I want."

"I don't hit women. Step aside."

He stepped forward, but Debra didn't flinch this time.

She whipped out a photo and shoved it in his face. "Take a good look. I've got backups. Leave, and this hits every website tomorrow."

It was Marion as a kid, dressed up like a girl by Itzel. He looked like a doll, with Itzel flashing a peace sign beside him.

Everyone in Seamar City knew how badly she had wanted a daughter. Dwayne had cooked up this dumb idea to make her happy. Marion thought that the photo was locked in the family safe.

His face darkened. 'Who dug it up?'

He realized quickly that Itzel had sold him out.

"Think twice," Debra taunted, her eyes glinting. "Walk out, and tomorrow you're the laughingstock of Seamar City."

He clenched his jaw. "What do you want?"

To Marion, it was barely a tickle.

Finally, Debra wore herself out and chucked the pillow.

Panting, she pointed at him. "You! Go downstairs, soak yourself in the fountain, and beg for my forgiveness three times. Do it, or I swear..."

He grabbed her wrist, yanking her downstairs.

The move caught her off guard. "Hey, what're you doing? Let go."

In the front yard, he released her. She nearly crashed into his back. He spun around, their faces inches apart. His stare made her heart skip.

"This stays between us," he warned. "Or else..."
