chapter311
He drafted and redrafted before finally sending: “Wanna hook up?”
In the study where Diane was researching academic projects beside Blair, the message made her fumble her phone.
Blair was reviewing documents while Diane focused on her PhD research.
Though Blair had threatened Miles to pressure Berry about her thesis topic, until it was settled, Diane couldn’t relax.
She’d fought too hard for this PhD–failure wasn’t an option.
A doctoral degree would open doors to entirely different opportunities.
Sweat beaded on Diane’s neck as she read Elvin’s proposition.
Noticing her tension, Blair set down his files. “What’s
wrong?”
Flushing crimson, Diane slapped her phone face–down on the desk. “N- nothing.”
Blair recognized her evasion. He reached for her phone.
Diane clamped her hand over his. “Blair, it’s just… a video
my
friend
sent.”
He frowned. “Can’t I see?”
Seeing his insistence, she whispered, “Don’t get mad when you do.”

Blair Avery saw her mysterious expression and agreed, “Alright.”
Seeing this, Diane Huffman picked up her phone, opened the chat interface of the video app, played the clip shared by her friend, and handed the device to Blair.
As the video started, a woman’s voice declared: “To win a man’s heart, you should do this…”
Blair lost interest after the opening line. Returning the phone, he advised, “Just be yourself. No need to force such things.”
Diane breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully Blair didn’t press further–otherwise he might’ve seen Elvin’s message.
Tilting her head, Diane teased, “But if I don’t learn these, how can I win your heart?”
Blair paused, then flicked her forehead sternly. “Focus on your research. Forget everything else.”
Recognizing his seriousness, Diane murmured, “Understood.”
Blair resumed work while Diane skimmed literature, her focus scattered.
Elvin’s message had stirred her thoughts.
In all of Ylagos, only Elvin rivaled Blair’s influence.
She already had Blair wrapped around her finger–yet unexpectedly, Elvin seemed equally captivated.
This triumph felt as sweet as earning her PhD.

After a moment, Diane locked her tablet. “Blair,” she whispered, “I’m tired. Let’s call it a night.”
Blair stood immediately. “I’ll drive you home.”
Diane nodded. “Okay.”
He threw on a coat and escorted her downstairs.
The old man had retired—otherwise Blair wouldn’t risk bringing her here.
After dropping Diane off, Blair returned directly to Harmony Residence.
Back at Blair’s new villa, Diane sank into the sofa and replied to Elvin: “So eager already, Mr. Elvin?”
His response came instantly: “Yes or no. One word.”
Diane could almost visualize his predatory gaze through the screen.
Suddenly, a notification flashed:
“Elvin Spotted with Starlet at Five–Star Restaurant–Public Display of Affection!”
Diane clicked despite herself.
