At the Shaw residence in Seastone City, Emily stared intently at her phone.
At 19, she had a delicate, youthful face, but her expression carried the sweet innocence of a child.
Today was the first of the month, the day of Benjamin and Shannon's wedding date.
As a devoted fan of Shannon, Emily had gotten up early and painstakingly styled herself, all in excited anticipation of attending her wedding.
When she was eight, she had suffered a traumatic injury that left her with an eight-year-old's intelligence. Even after Shannon "cured" her years later, her cognitive development remained fixed at that level.
Now, at 19, her mind had slowly matured to the level of an 11-year-old, still very much a child.
Donald and Helen sat on the couch across from her, similarly dressed in formal wear. They locked eyes and felt equally helpless.
"I don't know what's going on with the wedding. Aren't we gonna be late if we don't leave now?"
Donald replied to Helen, "Before we leave, we must first know where we're going…"
Although the Shaws had received a wedding invitation from the Jensens, the card only stated the time and date without the venue. When they asked, nobody had an answer for them.
"I wonder what Mr. Jensen is up to."
Even if privacy was the main concern of the event, it was still overly cautious to keep the wedding guests in the dark about the wedding location.
As they spoke, Emily finally chimed in. "Relax, Mommy and Daddy. Shannon knows what she's doing!"
Emily wasn't as caught up in the big-picture worries her parents had, but one moment struck with her forever.
When the Omniscape appeared and projected the grand wedding, no one knew or even remembered who the groom's bride was, including Emily.
Later, when she thought of Shannon again, her empty heart felt anchored. Her nose and eyes stung so badly that she cried out in prayer to the Divine Power, begging for Shannon's return.
Now that Shannon had returned, she would have a second wedding with Benjamin today. Although unsure whether it would resemble the first one, she believed Shannon would never lie to her.
Now, all they had to do was wait.
As Emily thought of that, the scene before her suddenly shifted.
