Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2455

The only possibility Olivia hadn't considered was that Skylar wouldn't even show up.

Even if something came up midway, he hadn't thought to send her a single message.

A teardrop dripped onto the table as Olivia picked up her fork and began eating the cake in silence. Then, she scooped out a large chunk of the foundation with one bite.

One bite… Two bites… Three bites… She began chomping on big spoonfuls of cake.

The chocolate tasted slightly bitter when mixed with tears, and after just a few bites, she stopped. Partly because she was full, and partly because she had to return to the set and couldn't afford to gain weight.

After swallowing what was in her mouth, Olivia took one last glance at her phone. There was no surprise message or knock at the door.

So, she finally gave up.

Reaching out with her dainty fork, she snapped the spiral staircase that connected her cartoon figurine to his without hesitation.

"Skylar, you absolute jerk," she murmured, choking on her words. But once she said them, she didn't stay any longer and got up to leave.

Meanwhile, Skylar had just emerged from a barrier when he suddenly had a strange feeling. After instinctively pulling out his phone, he glanced at the time, and his eyes darkened slightly.

Beside him were two disheveled mystic arts students who looked guilty and sorry. "We owe you big time, Skylar. If you hadn't shown up, we'd have been dead meat facing that hundred-year-old fierce ghost…"

Skylar gave a faint hum in response. Seeing that the matter was resolved, he hurriedly said, "Handle the aftermath. I've got to leave."

With that, he didn't spare another glance at the two half-collapsing juniors. After grabbing a mobile boots talisman, he activated it and vanished in a flash.

Skylar stared at the ruined cake as a strange tightness pressed hard against his chest. It felt almost suffocating, foreign, and helpless.

He'd never intended to ghost Olivia, but he'd been caught in an emergency just before leaving. There hadn't been time to text her and cancel the meeting.

But no matter the reason, it was a fact that he hadn't shown up tonight. He imagined she must be furious or perhaps felt more than that.

As the cold red exclamation mark crossed his mind, Skylar felt an inexplicable restlessness. His gaze landed on Olivia's cartoon figurine, lying in a mess of cream and chocolate.

Reaching out, he picked up the figurine and began carefully wiping the frosting off with a napkin. But no matter how he tried, it just wouldn't come clean.

Skylar stood in silence, and after a long pause, he gave up on wiping it.

With the greasy, sticky residue still clinging to the cartoon figurine, he slowly curled his fingers inward and closed his hand around it.
