Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2472

Olivia stared blankly at Skylar, crouched in front of her, and was momentarily stunned.

It was only when he turned his head and likely wondered why she hadn't moved that she snapped out of it. She hurriedly asked, "Is that okay?"

But even as she said that, her body lunged forward with no hesitation. Decisively, she hopped onto his back.

It was a good thing Skylar practiced martial arts daily and had a steady, strong lower stance. Otherwise, both of them would have hit the dirt with how she threw himself on him.

Olivia instantly felt embarrassed after realizing it afterward. Just as she inhaled and tried to adjust her weight, Skylar stood up and carried her on his back with practiced ease.

She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck and unintentionally choked him a little, but he didn't flinch. Instead, he said, "I'll take you down the mountain first."

His tone was flat and composed as always, betraying no hint of emotion.

Being on his back, Olivia couldn't see his face, but she could imagine his expressionless, reserved look that always kept people at arm's length.

She wondered how he felt. Was he annoyed by her troublemaking? Or was he worried about the strange fog in the mountains?

With those questions swirling in her mind, she couldn't help but speak up and break the silence. "Do you know what's going on with this fog? Won't it be dangerous with me on your back?"

Skylar's steps remained steady. He didn't even seem to catch his breath as he replied, "It shouldn't be anything dangerous. The fog was caused by the clashing of dragon energies."

"Dragons!" Olivia gasped. "Is it Kai?"

The livestream audience might not know Kai's true form, but she did.

Skylar calmly responded, "Not Kai."

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Why was she crying again? Did her foot hurt that badly?

Countless thoughts ran through his mind. He instinctively moved to put her down and cast a pain-relieving spell, but Olivia wouldn't give him the chance.

Her arms stayed firmly wrapped around his shoulders, her body trembling ever so slightly.

Perhaps it was because of his concern that Olivia completely lost her composure. All the tears she'd been struggling to hold back now streamed uncontrollably, and all the grievances and sorrow she'd suppressed surged forth in that moment.

She remembered his cold indifference and silence, the way he'd stood her up for no reason, and the cake she'd ruined. And yet, he'd shielded her from the rain, tended to her wounds, and brought her medicine. Plus, he'd even ventured into the mountains to find her and carried her back down.

Even after everything he'd done for her, she could barely read or decipher him. It was as if he'd given her a response, and yet, as if he never had at all.
