CHAPTER 0015
Meadow’s POV:
Throughout the entire elevator ride up to Tyler’s floor, all I wondered was whether coming here was a huge mistake.
And, to be honest, it probably was. I was going to an apartment that I’d left only three days ago thinking that I’d be returning with my husband.
But instead, I was going to an apartment that now belonged to my twin sister and her boyfriend.
Well, on the plus side, I did return with a husband. Just not the one I thought I would get married to.
I stepped out of the elevator, my heart in my throat as I walked down the hallway toward the place that I’d learned to call home over a year ago. Tyler and I didn’t take long to move in together. I was in love with him and was convinced that we had an extraordinary connection.
I would never get over how stupid I was.
I stood at the door, letting out a sharp breath. And for a second, I actually considered knocking.
My hand was halfway up the door, fists curled, when I caught myself.
No.
I still had a freaking key.
Tyler and Juniper didn’t get to humiliate me and then lock me out of what had been my home. Not when my name was still on the lease. Not when it was my closet they’d shoved into boxes like I was the one who’d betrayed
someone.

My fingers trembled slightly as I turned the key in the lock.
That tiny ‘click‘ sound made my heartbeat spike. I pushed open the door gently, and the second I stepped in, a horrifying sense of deja vu hit me like a punch to the gut.
Half–loud, rhythmic moans. Breathless, desperate groans.
Something thick lodged itself in my throat.
No. Not again.
I walked further into the apartment, down the short hallway, past the kitchen island, and stopped at the entrance of the living room.
And there they were.
Tyler underneath–again–head tossed back.
Juniper facing away from him, her hands on his knees, back arched dramatically as she bounced on his cock, her movements even quicker than the last time I caught them.
And she had on my dress. A pink, short flowery sundress that used to be my favorite.
But this time, it didn’t feel like my heart was being ripped out of my chest. I didn’t feel like crying or begging or pleading.

Now, all I felt was this surge of anger that gripped my chest hard. Because Juniper knew I was here. And she had a smirk on her face as she rolled her hips even faster.
I tossed the keys onto the counter, loud enough to slice through their moans, but Juniper didn’t stop.
She glanced at me, meeting my eyes like she’d been waiting for me to show up.
And then her mouth twisted into a wicked grin. “Hey, sis. Does this feel like dejavu?”
My hands curled into fists at my sides.
“Don’t flatter yourself,” I said flatly, stepping further into the room.
Tyler blinked
“Meadow?”
up at me slower than I expected, like his brain was lagging behind. Maybe he was drunk… or high.
Huh. I guess he didn’t know I was coming over.
He had the audacity to look embarrassed as Juniper lifted off him, scrubbing his hands down his face.
Well, at least they were clothed this time.
“Ugh,” he groaned, his voice groggy. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Yeah, Meadow,” Juniper said, arching her brows as she folded her arms across her chest. “Why are you here? You’re interrupting our celebration sex. You see,” she came to a stop in front of me, lowering her voice. “Tyler got a big promotion at work today. Isn’t that amazing?”
Her eyes gleamed with something twisted. I couldn’t figure out if she was trying to make me jealous or just humiliate me again. Either way, I didn’t give a shit.
Not like she thought I would.
“Right,” I said dryly. “Congratulations. I hope you both rot together.”
I turned toward the hallway, spotting the boxes that she’d mentioned. My clothes were spilling open, like she’d thrown them in there just to wrinkle them and spite me.
But before I could take a step forward, Juniper was in front of me again.
“Oh come on, don’t be a prude,” she sneered. “You’re still walking around like you’ve got something I don’t.” Her eyes flicked to my hand. “What’s that? A ring?”
My heart flew up to my throat.
Shit. I forgot I was wearing it.
Juniper reached out to grab my hand but I jerked away. “Don’t touch me.”
“Oh please,” Her eyes narrowed. “Still acting like you’re better than me? Like you didn’t run away because you couldn’t handle the truth?”
“I left because I’m done letting you treat me like garbage,” I replied in a sharp tone.
“Juni, come on,” I heard Tyler groan. “I’m fucking horny.”
I risked a sideways glance at him just in time to catch him pulling his dick out of his pants and stroking it while his head fell over the head of the couch.

What the hell did Juniper give him to make him act out of character like that?
Or… was this just the pathetic junkie he had always been but I was too blinded by love and admiration to notice?
“You heard him,” she said, smirking. “We’re busy. You should get back to whatever shitty motel you’re hiding in. Or Nova’s shitty apartment. That works too.”
My jaw ticked. And I wanted to tell her.
Oh my fucking god. I wanted to tell her about Alaric. Brag, even. But I held my tongue.
Juniper leaned in, voice dropping to a whisper. “Tyler says I’m tighter than you.”
Crack!
I didn’t think. I just slapped her hard, the sound echoing in the living room.
Tyler sluggishly sat up on the couch. “Jesus, Meadow.”
Juniper staggered back a step, and for the first time, her eyes widened with real shock.
And the best part?
I felt fucking proud of myself.
But that pride only lasted a few seconds before Juniper’s face changed.
For a second, it was hard to believe that this person looked exactly like me, because her face contorted, turning into something ugly and bitter.
