Chasing His Wolfless Luna Back (Rayna Quinn) novel Chapter 215

The Last Time1

Jaxon’s POV

“Fuck this shit,” I muttered, slamming the refrigerator door shut with more force than necessary. After spending three hours cleaning the house, doing laundry, and prepping meals for the week, I was completely wiped out. Honestly I had newfound respect for all the single she–wolves out there. Being a single dad was fucking exhausting.

I collapsed onto my couch. The morning had been a whirlwind of chores, all the housework that needed doing, taking care of Wyatt. Though he helped out, today I also

had to drive him to soccer practice.

He didn’t want to go, that much was obvious. It wasn’t like I was forcing him into a sport he hated; it was just that he knew Leo wouldn’t be there like usual.

I made him understand why. Thea had woken up, so of course Leo wanted to be with her. I

was sure this would continue for some time. Only when he was certain Thea wasn’t going

anywhere would he stop being so clingy.

Wyatt eventually understood, only agreeing to go to practice after I promised we’d visit Thea soon. When he learned that Thea, Leo, and Phoenix wouldn’t be returning to the

house next door, he was visibly disappointed.

My thoughts drifted to Thea. I felt like such a fucking asshole because the last time we

talked, I walked away feeling stung by her rejection. Looking back now, I understood her

position. After everything Sebastian had done to her, starting something with another

man who was still in love with Aurora was stupid.

She was right. I was still in love with Aurora, despite the countless times she’d broken my heart. Over a decade of feelings didn’t disappear so easily. I was just looking for someone

to ease the pain, a transitional relationship… and we all know those never end well.

she doesn’t want to know me.

Before I could react, she pushed me inside and started kissing me. I heard the door close as she kept kissing me, pushing me backward.

My mind was flooded with her scent, my body instantly coming alive like I’d been electrocuted, my wolf excited and growling. Despite my brain telling me this was wrong, my wolf still wanted her, wanted to complete that rejected mark, wanted to claim her as my mate. All I could feel was… feel her lips against mine, her soft palms touching my skin.

“Bedroom,” her voice was filled with desire. “I need you now, Jaxon. I need to feel you inside me.”

I was about to grab her hips and pull her to me when her next words made me freeze.

“Is Wyatt home? I hope not; I don’t want to see him or have him interrupt us,” she whispered urgently.

I stopped all movement, pushed her away, and regained my sanity.

Fuck, I couldn’t believe I’d almost fallen into her trap again, almost had sex with her.
