Zane ended the call, rubbed his temples, and reached out to Nadine’s family while rushing to his car.

“Nadine is in trouble?!”

The moment Kylie heard the news, she burst out in fury. “It’s all Tess’s fault–that crazy girl! How could she be so cruel to Nadine?”

Listening to her endless accusations, Zane cut in, brows furrowed, “Mrs. Ember, what matters right now is finding the right blood. As her mother, can you come to the hospital?”

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

Just when Zane thought the call had dropped, Kylie’s faint voice finally spoke up. “Nadine is adopted. She’s the daughter of my best friend.”

Zane fell silent at this revelation.

“Does Ms. Nadine have any family?”
