Henry stared into Tess’s eyes, waiting for a reaction.

But things didn’t go the way he expected.

From now on, you will no longer be a member of the Embers, and you won’t get a single thing that the old woman left for you!”

He had a feeling about Tess’s changes, but he knew she still cared about that dead old woman, so he used her as a threat.
