Every employee he passed shrank back under the weight of his dark expression.

On Tess’s side, things were far lighter. She was in such a good mood that she decided to invite Lyra and Bessie to a “thank–you dinner.”

away.

“Tess, you already know she has bad intentions, yet you’re still keeping her there. Aren’t you afraid she’ll steal from you again?”

Bessie couldn’t help but speak up.

Tess’s lips curved slightly, her voice calm. “There’s nothing important she can take. Keeping her here under my eyes is actually safer.”

Though she sounded composed and in control, the slight clench of her hands betrayed the emotions hidden in her heart.

Lyra glanced at her but said nothing.

Bessie nodded vaguely, only half understanding, assuming Tess had her own plan and choosing not to interfere.

Tess’s heart sank a little. She let out a quiet breath and gazed out the window with a twinge of

irritation.

The truth was, from the moment her design drafts had leaked, she had already guessed it was Wanda’s doing.

“You won’t be cocky for long. You’ve already been kicked out of Evermount Villa. Next up, Finn

will hand you the divorce papers!”

Nadine lifted her chin at the thought.
