Chapter 325 She’s So Easy to Fool
Kylie began to have trouble breathing, and tears streamed from her eyes.
Regret was written all over her face.
“Nadine, Sable Atelier just launched their latest line of bags. Let Mom take you shopping. Whatever you want, Mom will buy it for you. Will you please forgive me?”
She stood up and hugged Nadine, and Henry stepped forward, hugging them both from behind.
But in reality, he nodded at Nadine over Kylie’s shoulder, and the two of them exchanged a look of smug satisfaction.
She’s so easy to fool. What a stupid woman.
“Kylie, you’re just exhausted from everything you’ve been dealing with. That’s why your imagination’s been running wild. For the next few days, don’t leave the villa. Stay home and get some rest.
“I’ll take care of the whole thing with Tess.”
Henry’s eyes turned cold and hard as he spoke.
Kylie froze. She lowered her gaze, her heart aching a little.
After all, Tess was her daughter, too.
She shook her head again.
Forget it. Tess is nothing but a jinx–an ungrateful wretch who’ll never be loyal.
“Go ahead, Henry, don’t worry about me. You’ve been working so hard overseas all these years.
If you need money or help, just take my letter of authorization and talk to HR or the finance office.”
The Larsons still had quite a bit of wealth left back then.
Even though Henry had nearly drained it all, there was still plenty left.
Hearing this, Henry held her even tighter.
“Kylie, I always knew you had my back.”
At the same time, far away in her hotel room, Shannon was shaking all over. On her phone’s screen was a strange message.
“I know you’re in Crorus right now. You have 2 hours to get online and explain everything that happened back then. After being the other woman for so many years, do you really think you’ve done right by Kylie?”
She knew exactly what was happening at Ember Group at that moment, but who could have sent this message?
Tess?
After thinking it over, she realized that was the only possibility.
But how could Tess have known she was in Crorus and even gotten her number?
As she thought about it, fear kept creeping up on her.
Her perfectly manicured nails twisted through her hair as she nervously fidgeted, then hurriedly called Henry.
“Henry, how are things going on your end?”
When Henry picked up, his tone was still a little stiff, but Shannon’s soft voice calmed him down. He soon reassured her, “Everything’s fine. I’ve already smoothed things over. Kylie’s just an idiot. She’s not going to do anything to you, so just stay in the hotel and relax.”
But Shannon couldn’t sit still. She quickly told him about the threatening text message she’d just received.
“Tess?”
Henry’s brows knitted together.
“Don’t worry. I’ll look into it.”
