The moment the elder and Li Yao locked eyes, he instantly understood what was happening.
There was no integration realm expert backing her at all.
She WAS the expert.
Now that she stood mere inches away from him, he finally understood how much he had let his guard down.
He quickly activated his domain’s power, using it to resist the freezing effect that was rapidly spreading around him.
To his surprise, the ice prison broke quite easily. Making him wonder if his earlier judgement was wrong.
As this thought crossed his mind, he suddenly noticed something strange. The Li Yao who had been approaching him at impossible speed and was now just inches away began to wither. Her form dissolved into countless snowflakes that drifted through the wind.
"Huh?"
He wore a confused expression as he watched one of the flakes land on his palm. He stared at it, studying it for a moment before he remembered something.
"Oh no!"
He vanished from his position in an instant.
Li Yao materialized before Chen Wuji and his group who had just about barely made it a quarter of the way down the mountain.
"Your journey ends here."
The group of disciples found themselves completely immobilized once more.
"Wait, don’t!" A desperate voice screamed out from behind, but Li Yao had already begun to draw her sword.
"Nooooo!" The elder’s cry echoed across the mountainside as he rocketed toward Li Yao at maximum speed.
At first, it seemed as though nothing had happened as Li Yao calmly sheathed her sword.
But the moment the elder closed the distance between them, the space around the disciples suddenly broke apart and they turned into space dust.
The elder’s face twisted with pure rage.
Their sect had just lost one of its holy sons. He didn’t know what punishment the sect master would inflict on him for allowing this to happen under his watch. But he knew one thing - he wanted Li Yao dead no matter what.
His hand stretched toward her as he roared in fury.
With his arm just inches away from her, he was already imagining how he would tear her apart piece by piece. But then, suddenly, he found himself grasping nothing but a bolt of pure lightning.
The electricity spread rapidly through his arm, sending waves of excruciating pain through his body as he tried desperately to shake it off.
As the pain faded, he looked around frantically, wondering where she had vanished to. When he turned his gaze upward, he saw a massive hand descending toward him.
The pain of the electrical shock was overwhelming, making him lose control for a second. He crashed hard into the ground, his body digging a massive crater deep into the ground.
But that wasn’t the end of his troubles.
The huge hand from above had too much momentum to stop when he lost control over it. The moment he realized what was about to happen, he quickly tried to regain control of the attack but it was too late. The colossal hand slammed heavily into him, driving him even deeper into the ground.
Watching from atop a cliff, Li Yao shivered slightly as the crash echoed across the landscape. She thought to herself that she definitely heard several bones cracking from that impact.
As she observed the aftermath, the ground suddenly began trembling violently beneath her feet. She leaped into the air to watch from there instead.
The earth around the elder’s impact site started twisting and churning.
It then began reshaping itself forming the outline of something that resembled some sort of creature. Then, piece by piece, parts started emerging from the ground. First came an enormous head, at least a hundred meters in diameter. Then the thick neck, broad shoulders, and gigantic arms that stretched at least three hundred meters each. Finally, the rest of the colossal body pulled itself free from the earth.
Now a titan made entirely of rock and soil stood before Li Yao.
She raised her clenched fist with a confident smile, thinking to herself that this just meant more surface area for her to strike. Besides, something that large probably couldn’t move very fast anyway.
As this thought crossed her mind, she suddenly saw a massive fist hurtling toward her. Despite the creature’s enormous size, the punch maintained the frightening speed of an integration realm cultivator.
The giant fist collided with the remnants of lightning where Li Yao had been standing, producing wisps of smoke on its knuckles as it slowly withdrew.
Li Yao materialized on the opposite side, her expression more serious now. She thought to herself that this wasn’t going to be as easy as she had hoped.
