Chapter 13 Disciplining the Employees
Right then, in the deputy manager’s office, a few employees were gathered around Rebecca.
Someone spoke up anxiously. “Ms. Brown, can we really not show up? Won’t she get upset?”
Rebecca reclined on her leather chair and stroked her freshly manicured nails lovingly. “What can she do? Hmph, she’s nothing but a woman who slept her way up!”
The employees nodded, their anxiety fading away.
Deep down, they were annoyed, too.
Those who worked at Duran Corporation were all elites, and they thought someone who parachuted in wasn’t worthy of becoming their superior.
Just then, Hannah walked in and glanced at her watch, her face devoid of expression. “Ms. Moore wants me to inform you that if you don’t show up at the meeting in ten minutes, you’ll all be fired. There are eight minutes left.”
Everyone blanched visibly as they whipped their heads around to look at Rebecca.
Rebecca’s expression darkened instantly. She hadn’t expected the newcomer to be so bold.
“Fine, fire us all then!” she responded coldly.
“Rebecca, we should go. What if we get fired for real?” Someone panicked.
Another chimed in suddenly, “Yes, it suddenly occurred to me that her surname is also Moore. Could she be related to our headquarters?”
Hearing that, almost everybody headed for the door.
Gritting her teeth, Rebecca had no choice but to follow them.
In the conference room, Rebecca entered under the weight of everyone’s stares, feeling completely humiliated.
“I’m sorry for being late, Ms. Moore. I’m busy with the new product development lately. By the way, I heard your background isn’t really in skincare, so maybe you won’t quite get what I’m saying,” Rebecca said with a sly chuckle, covering her mouth.
Several employees present couldn’t hold back their laughter, their eyes brimming with disdain.
“Yes, it has nothing to do with skincare,” Nancy replied indifferently.
Rebecca’s disgust grew. “So you excel at something else, then. We’re honored to be under the lead of someone as talented as you.”
Her sarcastic words struck a chord with some of them in the room.

Nancy remained unruffled. “Actually, I happen to know how to develop better skincare products. I studied medicine at Southfield University. This time, our focus is on how to create more effective skincare.”
Southfield University?
Everyone gasped in disbelief.
After all, it was ranked as the top university in the world.
Almost everyone here graduated from prestigious universities, yet not a single one came from Southfield University, which showed how high its standards were.
Rebecca froze for a moment before bursting into laughter. “Oh, please, you can’t even come up with a decent lie. Southfield University only admits heirs and high–ranking officials–it’s famous as the breeding ground for future leaders in every field.
“Who are you to get in? If you’d really gotten in, you wouldn’t have been working here!”

Instantly, some faces lit up with joy, while others clouded with worry.
Furious, Rebecca parted her lips to say something, but Nancy got straight to the topic. “Our meeting starts now.”
Initially, everyone was somewhat doubtful, but after they heard Nancy’s professional explanation and suggestions, their eyes lit up.
Rebecca let out an icy snort “Dream on! Ms. Moore comes from a prestigious family and was probably spoiled her whole life. Even if she wants to start from the bottom, she wouldn’t choose to work at our company. What a bunch of fools!”
