Chapter 133 Raine Kneels

The room fell completely silent the moment Corey’s words registered.

No one expected Raine to be asked to leave instead of Nancy.

Raine’s face drained of color while Alex couldn’t help but frown. “Corey, come with me.”

He stood and walked aside with Corey, speaking in a low voice. “Why is Uncle Gideon getting involved in something so trivial?”

“Mr. Fuller, I may only be a company employee, but I have to ask… Is Raine really worth it?” Corey said, his eyes locked on Alex.

Alex clenched his fists in response. After a few moments, he said, “Raine saved me. I can’t just ignore her.”

“You’ve already done too much for her over the years,” Corey said calmly. “Raine isn’t a good person. As for Nancy, do you even know who she is?”

“Who is she?” Alex asked.

Corey replied, “The heiress of the Moore family.”

Those six words hit Alex like a bombshell. He thought, “Nancy? The heiress of the Moore family?”

Alex had heard of the famed Moore heiress before but had never met her in person.

It was no wonder Nancy carried herself with such composure, elegance, and an air of nobility. She was clearly not from an ordinary family.

Alex wondered why she would humble herself in the Lidell household if she was the heiress of the Moore family. It struck him as highly unusual.

Clearly, it had something to do with the Moore family.

“Mr. Fuller, the Moores consider Nancy their true daughter,” Corey said, breaking Alex’s train of thought. “I’ve said enough. Think carefully about what you’re going to do next.”

Alex felt a twinge of embarrassment as Corey saw right through his thoughts. “I understand. I’ll handle this matter properly.”

Corey nodded and said, “I hope you do, Mr. Fuller. I’ll take my leave now.

After Corey left, Alex returned to Raine’s side and sat down.

She looked at him anxiously. “How did your discussion go?”

“Raine, I spoke with Corey. You don’t need to leave, and Nancy won’t be leaving either. As for your bet, that’s something you two will have to settle yourselves,” Alex said.

Raine clenched her fists.

“I won’t interfere with your family matters. I’ll be going now,” Alex said, standing to take his leave.

As he walked into the courtyard, he accidentally bumped into Irene. The tea cup in Irene’s hands tipped, and the liquid inside spilled onto his suit.

“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” Irene said, bowing repeatedly, her voice clear and filled with guilt.

Alex looked at her and felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. “Are you a member of the Lidell family?”

Irene looked up and froze at the sight of Alex’s handsome face, then quickly lowered her eyes. “I’m Edward’s daughter.”

Alex thought, “Edward’s daughter?”

He frowned. She dressed so plainly that she could easily be mistaken for a maid, yet she was truly a Lidell.

Irene looked at the tea stain on Alex’s expensive shirt, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. “I’m so sorry. I’ll clean it and return it to you.”

“There’s no need.” Alex shook his head. He didn’t mind much. It was just a shirt, after all.

Irene said, “I insist. I’m really sorry. Your shirt must be expensive, so I’ll handle it carefully.”

Irene’s clear, sincere eyes met his, and for some reason, Alex couldn’t bring himself to refuse. In the end, he agreed to her request.

Later, in the car, Alex changed into a fresh shirt and handed the soiled one to Irene.

She suggested, “Let’s exchange contact information. Send me your address.”

“Okay,” he replied,

They exchanged contact information, and Irene left soon after.

Alex stared at her profile picture for a moment longer. It was an image of a kitten.

Frowning, he felt something amiss. Ever since being with Raine, he had kept his distance from other girls, yet this time felt different.
