Chapter 143 You Actually Like Her
“Thank you for the compliment,” Nancy replied graciously.
“Now that the inspection is over, you can leave,” Gideon said to Rowan.
Sensing he was being dismissed, Rowan could only nod and leave. He got back into his car, clearly displeased.
His driver, Leland Vaughn, asked, “Mr. Houle, will you be heading back to the office?”
Rowan scoffed. “Back to the office? Do I still get to call the shots there?”
He had poured his heart and soul into the Fuller Group branch for years, only to have Gideon come in and carry out massive layoffs.
Most of Rowan’s relatives had been let go, and his authority within the family had evaporated overnight.
Though they hadn’t been contributing much, Rowan had expected Gideon to at least show him some respect. But Gideon clearly had no intention of doing so.
Noticing his mood, Leland tried to soothe him. “Mr. Houle, don’t be upset. Mr. Fuller won’t stay here forever. He’ll have to return soon.”
“With the way he’s acting, I doubt he’ll go easy on me,” Rowan muttered, concern gnawing at
him.
Gideon was extremely strict, and if he discovered Rowan’s embezzlement, the latter knew that
he would be in serious trouble.
Rowan ground his teeth, resenting the fact that Gideon could openly give a beautiful woman extra profits, yet would never allow his subordinates to take even the slightest advantage for themselves.
“Forget it. Let’s head to the Levine residence! It’s been a while since I last saw Amelia,” Rowan
said.
Once at the Levine residence, he vented to his sister, Amelia Houle, for a while.
“Rowan, don’t worry too much. Things will work out with time,” Amelia comforted him.
Rowan sighed deeply, still glum. At the next second, Rowan narrowed his eyes as he saw someone familiar walk in.
He glanced at Amelia, who quickly composed herself and called out, “You’re back?”

“Yeah,” Johnny replied calmly, taking a seat on the couch without saying more.
Amelia and Rowan exchanged a look, then both stood up and stepped out into the courtyard to
talk.
As Rowan passed Johnny, he caught sight of Johnny’s phone screen and froze in place. “Is that … Ms. Moore?” he asked.
Johnny looked at him coldly and offered a curt nod in response.
“What are you looking at her pictures for?” Rowan focused his narrowed eyes on Johnny’s phone. “Don’t tell me… You like her?”
“It’s none of your business,” Johnny said coldly, standing to leave.
But Rowan quickly blocked his path. “Johnny, you’re my nephew. If you like Ms. Moore, you should tell me. I might have a way to help you win her over.”
Meanwhile, Gideon finished the site inspection with Nancy, and the two headed to the
barbecue restaurant.
“Why do you wear this tie every day?” Nancy asked, looking at his tie.
Gideon gave her a slightly pitiful look. “I’ve been too busy here to shop for new ones.
“I’ll buy you a few more next time,” Nancy said.
He smiled faintly. “Thanks, darling.”
Nancy shifted slightly. His presence was overwhelming and too intense to ignore.
They soon arrived at the barbecue restaurant and chose a table by the window. Nancy looked over the menu. “How good are you with spicy food?”
“What about you?” Gideon asked her in return.
“I can handle my spice,” Nancy said with a smile. “Whenever I go out to eat with Hillary, we always pick the spiciest dishes.”
Gideon chuckled, his voice low and magnetic. “Then we’ll go with your preference.”
“Okay.” Nancy picked the spiciest barbecue sauce and then selected some side dishes.
Soon, the food was served, and the smoky, savory aroma filled the air.
