Chapter 74 Raine Stirs Up Trouble Again

Nancy originally lived in Boraska, so the big names in Riversdale didn’t recognize her. Thanks to her ties with the Lidells, no one dared to point out the fact that she was the daughter of the Moore family.

She thought Gideon’s earlier introduction of her had been just right.

“Which district are you eyeing in this auction, Mr. Fuller?” someone started.

“I’ve heard the government’s moving to the west. Naturally, that makes the Western District land more valuable.”

“I think so too.”

Nancy listened in without adding a word, though her mind was already spinning with possibilities.

“Miss, your cake,” a server said as he appeared at her side with a delicate slice of cake on a plate.

Nancy blinked in surprise. She hadn’t ordered dessert, but one glance at the man beside her told her everything she needed to know. “Thank you.”

She took a bite of the cake. The cream melted instantly on her tongue, and its sweetness seeped through her like warm light.

“You guys have fun. I’m going to step out for some food,” Nancy said after finishing her cake.

Gideon nodded. “Alright.”

She walked into the ballroom, weaving her way through clusters of guests while casually listening in on conversations. Soon, she spotted Christopher and Mirella.

“Ms. Moore,” Christopher greeted immediately.

“How’s the discussion going?”

“Most people are leaning toward the Western District.”

Nancy frowned. “Both the Eastern and Western Districts have strong potential for growth. The gap shouldn’t be this big.”

“Exactly,” Christopher whispered. “Someone overheard that a few major real estate tycoons favor the Western District, so now everyone’s just following suit.”

Nancy instantly understood why the conversation in the VIP room had been so one–sided. They knew someone was eavesdropping and had intentionally spoken to be heard.

“Focus on properties in the Eastern District later,” Nancy ordered.

“Got it, Ms. Moore.”

Nancy made her way to the buffet and picked up a piece of steak. She hesitated before grabbing another piece.

As she turned, someone suddenly collided with her, and the plates hit the floor with a clatter.

“Oh! I’m sorry, Nancy. I didn’t mean to!” came a familiar voice. Raine stood there with an

innocent look.

Nancy’s face went cold. Before she could speak, Fergus stormed over and grabbed her by the arm. “Nancy, how could you be so vicious? Raine didn’t do it on purpose! What’s with that look on your face?”

“Fergie, don’t,” Raine pleaded, but made no move to stop him. “It’s all my fault…”

Nancy calmly pried his fingers off her arm one by one, then took a wet wipe and cleaned her hand. The disdain in her eyes sparked Fergus‘ temper.

“Quit acting so high and mighty. I’m the one who should be disgusted!” he snapped.

“Then take your sweet little sister and stay away from me,” Nancy shot back.

“That’s my line. This is an auction. What are you even doing here? Which big shot did you tag along with this time?”
