Chapter 8 Martha Announcing Nancy’s Identity
Hearing the reminder, Regina immediately said, “I think so. Nothing else important happened recently, so that should be it.”
“Wow, that’s amazing, Raine!” Raine’s aunt, Susan Olsen, beamed at her, full of praise. “You’re the most talented young lady in this generation. No wonder Mom took notice. She’s spent all these years recuperating in the countryside, not paying any attention to family affairs.”
“Yes, Raine. You’re so talented,” Raine’s cousin, Wendy Lidell, chimed in, piling on the flattery.
Raine’s lips curved into a faint smile, but she remained modest. “We’re still not sure it’s because of this.”
“There’s nothing else going on right now, so it’s definitely because of this,” Wendy replied with a smile, though her eyes held a hint of both envy and jealousy.
Deep down, Raine thought so too, so she got all excited.
Martha might’ve stepped down, but she was still the chairperson of the company. Her presence was formidable, and she rarely smiled. She also subjected her grandchildren to strict standards. No matter how many times Raine tried to win her over, she never cracked a smile.
“It looks like your grandma thinks you’re the most talented girl in your generation,” Regina said in a low voice. “You should keep her happy. Perhaps she might even consider giving you her shares one day!”
Raine’s excitement grew. “I will, Morfi.”
As they chatted, the door to the private room finally opened. Martha walked in, with Nancy following behind her closely.
Raine was the first one to spot Martha. Flashing a smile, she greeted, “Grandma, you’re here. Thank you for hosting this celebration party for me.’
“Celebration party?” Martha frowned in confusion.
“Grandma, didn’t you host this celebration party because I won first place in the Riversdale Piano Competition?” Raine grew confused as well.
“A mere first place in a Riversdale competition needs to be celebrated?” Martha was speechless.
Raine felt her cheeks heat up. “Then…”
“Nancy,” Martha uttered calmly. Nancy stepped out from behind her.
The moment she showed herself, all gazes fell upon her. She was strikingly beautiful, with a presence that was just as captivating.
Raine, Regina, and the rest blanched visibly.
Nancy? Why was she here?
Martha’s voice was solemn. “Today, I’ve gathered everyone here to announce something important. My eldest
At once, Raine’s mind went blank. The relatives were visibly shocked.
“What does that mean?”
“Isn’t Raine her eldest granddaughter?”
“Yes, don’t tell me that Raine isn’t her real granddaughter, and this one is.”
As they spoke, they realized Nancy bore a little resemblance to Regina.
Tears welled up in Raine’s eyes, and she could barely stand on her feet.
granddaughter is back.”
She couldn’t believe Martha would do this to her. Instead of celebrating her achievement, Martha wanted to destroy her.

Regina felt her heart sink. Before Martha could speak, she immediately stood up and went to Nancy. “Yes. Actually, I gave birth to twins back then. Nancy went missing back then, but now, we’ve found her. Both Nancy and Raine are our daughters.”

Andrew had no choice but to accept it. Laughing, he said, “Yes, it’s wonderful that Nancy’s back.”

Raine was still in shock. Seeing this scene, she grew upset and gazed at Nancy darkly.
The corners of Raine’s eyes turned red. Noticing it, Regina felt bad for her. She had no idea Martha would bring Nancy over without informing them in advance.
