Chapter 97 Office Confession
“Why are you barking at me?” Nancy asked coldly, her voice carrying a hint of disgust. “I didn’t know about this. And even if I had, you still wouldn’t have realized it if it were staring you in the face.
“You’re the one who doomed Lidell Group, Fergus, not me.”
With that, she hung up on him.
Fergus looked at the disconnected call with trembling fingers. Then, he received a call from Andrew. He felt faint upon realizing that Andrew must have already found out.
“What do I do? What do I do, Raine?”
The land he’d bought at a high price had pretty much become useless.
100 million dollars!
That was 100 million dollars he’d just lost!
Right as Lidell Group was going through a difficult time, he’d wasted 100 million dollars. He didn’t dare imagine how badly he was going to be scolded.
As Raine gazed at Fergus, she couldn’t help but curse inwardly at him for his uselessness.
“You’re not to blame for this either, Fergie. It’s Nancy’s fault for not telling you about it,” she said gently. “Just tell Dad the truth.”
“Yes, it’s all Nancy’s fault,” Fergus echoed, his eyes filled with even more loathing toward
Nancy.
He answered Andrew’s call, upon which he was immediately given a good dressing down.
…
Everyone in Duran Corporation was incredibly happy to have secured the land project. That night, Christopher invited everyone to a team–building dinner.
Ian and Freya went back to rest first so as not to disrupt the celebration.
Nancy, on the other hand, went with everyone to the restaurant. Everyone toasted in
celebration, and the atmosphere was incredibly lively.
Suddenly, the deputy manager of Duran Corporation’s business development department stared straight at Nancy.
Nancy noticed his stare and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Johnny Levine stared intently at her beautiful face, then took a deep breath and declared, “I–I like you, Ms. Moore!”
Nancy was stunned.
Everyone else fell silent as well and looked between her and Johnny with gleaming eyes.
Christopher simply felt like he was about to faint.
Johnny, that brat!
Christopher was aware of Nancy’s true identity, but nobody else was.
Everyone started heckling Nancy and Johnny.
“Wow! I didn’t expect Mr. Levine to like Ms. Moore. Well, I suppose Ms. Moore is so pretty that it’d be weirder not to like her.”
“They’re quite the ideal couple.”
“Say yes, Ms. Moore!”
Christopher instantly cleared his throat and asked, “Did you have too much to drink, Johnny? I think I’d better send you home to rest.”
“I did have too much to drink, but it’s precisely why I even had the courage to confess. I’ve fancied you for a long time, Ms. Moore. Ever since the first day you joined the company, I’ve only had eyes for you,” Johnny declared, his eyes filled with admiration.
Nancy looked at him and replied slowly, “Thank you for liking me, but I have no plans to date right now.”
Johnny’s eyes dimmed slightly, but he quickly flashed a smile. “It’s alright. This just means I haven’t managed to move you yet. I believe that I’ll one day be able to stir your heart!”
From the looks of it, he was prepared to keep trying.
Christopher was at a complete loss for words. “Have you forgotten that office romance is frowned upon in our company, Johnny?
