Leaving You Bereft (Willow and Julian) novel Chapter 170

Melanie left the hospital and headed home. As soon as she got out of the car, she asked Noah, "Where's Liam?"

He had to hold back his laughter when he saw the state she was in. He pointed at the study and said, "He's speaking with Mr. Tyler."

Melanie couldn't care less about her appearance at the moment. Her grandchild was all that mattered.

Tyler and Liam were discussing work in the second-floor study over some tea. Julian would be gone for two months, and there was a lot of work at the company to be dealt with. Someone had to take the reins, and Liam wanted Tyler to go into the office.

As they talked, Melanie barged into the room, looking unkempt and disheveled. As soon as she entered, she cried, "Liam!"

He was startled. He stared at her for a long time before saying, "People would think you were newly widowed with the way you look."

Only then did Melanie notice Tyler. She was a little embarrassed as she said, "Oh, you're here too, Tyler."

She tidied her hair before saying to Liam, "I have good news. Willow is pregnant."

"What?" He shot to his feet. "What about Julian? He's gone abroad! What are we going to do?"

Tyler found the situation challenging, too.

Melanie held her head high and kept them in suspense as she picked up Liam's cup of tea and sipped it. "I had Lewis immediately take me to the airport when I learned the news so I could stop Julian. You have no idea how risky things were earlier—he was already at the security checkpoint! Thank God I managed to catch him."

She looked smug as she spoke. Liam stepped forward to hold her hand, looking delighted. "Good job!"

Tyler complimented her too. "You were quick on your feet, Melanie."

It wasn't convenient for Timothy to be around, so he was hiding. Meanwhile, Heather was venting her anger on Julian. She not only berated him but also his family.

It had rained that afternoon, but Julian hadn't budged from where he was. His shirt was soaked from the rain and clung to him. There were still water droplets that hung from his handsome face.

Caleb had grabbed a stool and sat in a corner as he watched the show with interest—he couldn't believe Julian would one day end up in such a predicament.

Melanie's heart ached for Julian, and she turned to Liam tearfully. "Liam…"

She wasn't the only one who felt bad. Liam's heart also ached at the sight of Julian, his outstanding son, kneeling before someone else's home so submissively. Even the passing maids were pointing at him and whispering about him.

Still, he knew what to do and what not to do. He said harshly, "Let him stay there—no one is allowed to help him up! It's what he deserves. He has to let them vent their anger!"
