Amelia climbed into the IntelliQuip sedan, tossing her purse onto the passenger seat with a little too much force.

Dealing with Daniel was bad enough—now Violet was in the mix too.

Violet smashed a mug in the break room to vent her anger, then took a few deep breaths to compose herself. She ducked into the restroom to fix her makeup and smooth her hair before heading back toward the offices.

A junior assistant blocked her at the door. Violet’s eyes narrowed in irritation. “Do you even know who I am?”

The assistant glanced at the badge pinned to Violet’s blouse: [Logistics Coordinator].

“Logistics is up on the sixth floor. You’re on the wrong level.”

Violet lifted her chin, all arrogance. “Go in and tell Mr. Campbell that Violet is here to see him. Ask first and come back to me when you know what you’re talking about.”

Just then, the sleek black doors behind the assistant slid open with a muted blue shimmer. Daniel stepped out, sharp in his tailored suit. Violet’s eyes lit up. “Daniel!”

Daniel didn’t even look her way. “Tell the management team we’re meeting in ten minutes,” he said to the assistant.

Violet hurried after him. “Daniel, I’ve been waiting for you forever. Your assistant wouldn’t let me in—”

Behind them, the assistant rolled her eyes at Violet’s retreating back.

Daniel didn’t bother with pleasantries. His gaze flicked to the badge on Violet’s chest, and his brow furrowed. “When did you start working at IntelliQuip?”
