Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 306

Daniel’s grip on her shoulders tightened, his strength far outmatching hers, especially with her at such a disadvantage—perched awkwardly in the slick bathtub, she could barely get any leverage at all.

He towered over her, water droplets splashing onto his forehead, soaking the unruly strands of hair that framed his brooding eyes. Shadows pooled beneath his brow, making his gaze sharper, almost predatory.

“Which one of us is really crossing the line here?” He caught her chin between his fingers, forcing her to look up at him. His voice was low, insistent. “Amelia, tell me—who’s the one acting out of control?”

The bathwater kept rising, lapping up to Amelia’s stomach now. Her barely-there beige slip clung to her skin, turned sheer by the water, outlining every delicate curve beneath. The warmth of the water wrapped around her, but suddenly, Amelia realized she’d badly underestimated Daniel. She’d put too much faith in his restraint, in his character.

He was a wolf—a wolf who knew how to hide his claws.

Refusing to let him corner her so easily, Amelia kicked out. But the tub was too slippery; the moment she pushed against him, she lost her balance and started sliding under the water.

Daniel’s reflexes were quicker than her panic. He caught her before she could slip, hauling her upright.

She was soaked through, her pale lingerie visible beneath the now transparent shirt, every line and shadow beneath the thin fabric sending a jolt of heat through the air between them. The effect was dizzying—intimate, but veiled, like a forbidden melody half-heard.

A muscle worked in Daniel’s jaw as he swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

“Don’t look!” Amelia crossed her arms desperately over her chest, cheeks burning. “Look again and I’ll claw your eyes out!”

He smiled, but there was something wild and wounded in it. “If you don’t want me to see, who’s it for, then?” Her defiance was like a needle driving straight into him. “Robert?”

Daniel’s anger was a wildfire, burning him up from the inside, scorching everything from Silkwood to Diamond Isle. Logic was a lost cause—he’d stopped thinking straight the moment he saw those photos.

Nighttime. The island. A romantic stretch of beach. Two figures close together, bathed in moonlight. The images torched his composure—and then, as if to confirm every worst suspicion, he’d walked in on Amelia and Robert sharing a room, Robert’s shirt half undone.
