Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 64

She turned her head and asked Amelia, “So, is that jerk Daniel camping outside for you again? What do you want to do about it?”

Amelia pulled the blanket up and turned away, exhausted. Every argument with Daniel left her drained, like the energy had been sapped from her bones.

“Call the building manager, or the police—whatever. He cares about his reputation; he won’t stick around for long.”

Sophia was a woman of action. Without hesitation, she called the front desk and had the stubborn statue outside their door removed.

Daniel’s retreat was anything but graceful, and the gloomy mood lingered for days.

His assistant barely dared to breathe, dropping off files and making to leave as quickly as possible—only to be stopped.

She pasted on her corporate smile, turning back with as much cheer as she could muster. “Mr. Campbell, is there anything else?”

“What’s today’s date?”

“January third.”

His pen paused. “So tomorrow’s the fourth?”

The assistant thought, Of course it is. Today’s the third, so tomorrow will be the fourth—unless we’re skipping straight to the tenth.

She kept her smile in place. “Yes, sir.”

Daniel fell silent, lost in thought for a moment. “Cancel all my appointments for tomorrow.”

The next morning, Amelia woke to a message from the university: they were organizing a group trip for staff and students to see the latest critically acclaimed war film.

“I don’t want to go. They could just give us the money instead; I’d rather buy something or sleep in.”

“You can always nap in the theater,” someone joked.

“Oh, right. I’ll just sleep through blaring trumpets and deafening explosions? You must have a lot of faith in my sleeping skills.”

“Come on, the school’s paying, and you’re still complaining? Let’s go.”

Amelia sat in the dining hall, picking at her breakfast while listening to the chatter around her. Her phone buzzed.

A message from Oliver: [Amelia, the date’s set. March 12th. I’ve sent over the paperwork; sign and send it back to me.]

She found her seat, only to realize the layout was odd—seats were spaced in pairs, each duo separated for privacy.

Looking around, she saw the pattern: every pair was a guy and a girl. Clearly, this was the couples’ screening room.

A question mark hung over Amelia’s head.

Suddenly, the lights dimmed and the pre-movie ads rolled. The glow from the screen barely illuminated the room, making everyone’s faces hard to see.

Amelia lit up her phone, double-checking her ticket to see if she’d somehow entered the wrong theater.

Just then, a tall shadow appeared beside her.

That familiar, cool scent…

She turned—and there was Daniel, immaculate in a charcoal three-piece suit, settling casually into the seat beside hers.

His hair was perfectly styled, every inch the picture of elegance. He looked less like someone here for a movie, and more like he was about to officiate a wedding.

Catching her gaze, he offered a charming, almost mischievous smile. “What a coincidence.”
