Chapter 16 

“Van have no right to criticize Emily!” Samuel snapped. “You would’ve loved it it she published the hotos, wouldn’t you? You made sure to get my entire face in the picture each time, but you were very careful not to include your face. Don’t think I can’t tell that you came up with this plan from the start, just so you could chase her out and take her place.” 

He could finally see what was happening, but it was all too late. 

Jessica wanted to continue defending herself, but he detested her too much and didn’t want to give her even a sliver of a chance to do so. He called up his security guards and said, “There’s someone who doesn’t belong here. Take her away.” 

The security guards, who were on duty at all times, immediately rushed over. 

Jessica refused to leave with them. She continued to try to plead her case. “You’re the one who asked me to come over, Samuel! If you want me to leave now, I’ll do it, but you can’t treat me like this…” 

Samuel turned around and headed into the house with his back toward her, saying, “Don’t let me see you ever again.” 

“Samuel!” Jessica screamed. 

Just like that, she was hauled out to the entrance. She watched as the metal gates slammed shut in front of her. It was as if she could see her shot at living a life of luxury slowly slipping through her fingers. 

Tearful, she began to wail, “Even if I didn’t do anything, Samuel, she was going to divorce you sooner or later anyway! You can’t blame this on me…” On this account, she and Samuel shared the same stance. Neither one wanted to take responsibility for the situation. 

It was only when Jessica heard the critical remarks from passersby behind her that she snapped back to her senses and realized the state she was in. “What’s going on with this young woman? Why is she out on the street half–naked in this weather? Is this what young people get up to these days? How perverse!” 

“Didn’t you hear what she said? She said it herself that she caused someone’s divorce. One look and you can tell she was kicked out after fighting with the wife,” 

“Goodness me. She looks like a decent young woman! Why would she do such a shameless thing?” 

“She should be glad she’s living in modern society. Otherwise, in the past, she would’ve been dragged off and paraded on the streets…” 

It was rare to see such a scandalous commotion. While remarking among themselves, the passersby didn’t forget to take their phones out and record the situation. They didn’t care whether the videos would get taken down if they uploaded them online. 

Jessica was still hoping to marry rich someday, so she couldn’t possibly allow her reputation to get ruined. Hiding her face, she pleaded, “Samuel! Mr. Porter! I’ll leave right this instant, but can’t you at least give me my clothes?” 

Hearing the shouts, a security guard came to report to Samuel, “Mr. Porter, Ms. Lewis-” 

Samuel cut him off with a look and said, “I don’t want to hear anything related to her.”
