Chapter 122
Chloe noticed lan wasn’t picking up his phone, so she glanced at the caller ID.
It was Andrea calling.
Chloe reached over and pressed the answer button for him.

Andrea’s voice came through clearly. “Ian, something’s wrong. Clint’s stomach hurts, and he won’t stop crying.
I had a few drinks tonight, so I can’t drive. Can you take him to the hospital?”
Seeing the situation, Chloe hurried Ian. “Go check on Clint. When a kid’s sick, it’s serious.”
Ian caught hold of Chloe’s wrist. “We’re going together.”
Chloe pulled her hand free. “If Clint’s stomach is acting up, he’ll need blood tests and scans anyway. I won’t be any help. Just get him to the hospital.”
Now that Ian and Andrea had a kid together, they were tied together for life.
No matter how much he tried to fool himself, he couldn’t fool his own heart.
Ian saw that same selfless look on Chloe’s face again.
He frowned, his grip on Chloe’s hand tightening without him even realizing it.
He said, “Chloe, I know it’s hard for you when Andrea calls, but Clint’s innocent.”
He’d just promised Chloe he’d try not to let Andrea and Clint intrude on their life together.
And yet, Andrea was calling in the middle of the night.
Chloe couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable about all this.
As the tension lingered between them, Chloe’s phone suddenly buzzed–it was Andrea calling.
Chloe picked up and said, “Don’t worry, Andrea, he’s on his way now.”
Once she hung up, Chloe quickly told lan to head out.
Jan just stood there, frozen in place.
He said, “Chloe, you promised me you wouldn’t make trouble anymore.”
Chloe lowered her eyes, trying to hide the emotions swirling beneath them.
She retorted, “Your son’s sick, I’m just asking you to go take care of him. How is that me making trouble?”
Ian grabbed Chloe’s hand and demanded, “Tell me, since when did you get so chummy with Andrea?”

Chloe frowned, unable to hold back. “Ian, seriously? Is something wrong with your head, arguing about this right now?”
lan’s expression turned grim. “Clint’s sick, Andrea calls you, you rush me over–when exactly did you and Andrea start acting like a tag team?”
Chloe, a bit defensive, shot back, “Ian, if things between you and Andrea were really as squeaky clean as you say, you wouldn’t be so desperate to keep me away from her. The more you try, the guiltier you look!”
Ian was completely stumped, Chloe’s comeback leaving him at a loss for words.
Andrea’s third call finally pushed Ian out the door.
As soon as Ian was out the door, Chloe wasted no time and called Arthur.
A few minutes later, Arthur knocked on the door.
Chloe brought Arthur into Ian’s study. “Everyone online says you’re that legendary dark web hacker. Can you help me crack every encrypted file on this computer?”
Arthur raised an eyebrow, already bargaining. “Chloe, what’s in it for me if I help you?”
Chloe shrugged. “Next time you come in for a checkup, I’ll skip a few of those extra tests and save you some money.”
Arthur made an exaggerated pout, obviously not thrilled.
Seeing Arthur still unmoved, Chloe started getting anxious, a thin layer of sweat breaking out on her forehead. “How about I buy you dinner again?”
Arthur grinned. “Only if I can come over for food whenever I want.”
Chloe shoved Arthur onto the office chair. “Deal!”
Their deal was set in a snap–Arthur finally agreed and sat down.
Chloe kept darting anxious glances at the study door. “Hurry up. If Ian comes back and finds you here, I’ll just say you snuck in all by yourself.”
Arthur’s fingers raced across the keyboard, his mouth running as always. “If your husband catches me, I’ll just say you tried to seduce me–and wanted to make me your sugar baby.”

Chloe knew better than to argue–she wisely kept her mouth shut.
After a few minutes, Arthur handed Chloe the mouse. “There are tons of encrypted files here. Which one do you want me to crack?”
Chloe leaned in and spotted a file marked with Andrea’s initials. “Can you break into this one for me?”

Arthur had the password cracked in under a minute, and Chloe anxiously scrolled through the files, her heart pounding.
Turns out, lan had been secretly investigating Andrea this entire time.
This file documented Andrea’s entire six–year life in Tecnovia–every move she made, every place she’d been.
The more Chloe scrolled, the heavier her heart grew. She never realized Andrea had gone through so much heartbreak and hardship in Tecnovia.
‘No wonder Ian always goes out of his way to protect her, no wonder he cares for her so much, Chloe thought to herself.
Chloe plugged in a USB drive and copied the files over.
But she refused to give up–she kept ransacking Ian’s computer, desperate to uncover anything he might be hiding.
The Hamilton family’s business empire spanned the globe, making them the most powerful family in Kingsford.
No way she believed everything about their business was squeaky clean.
If she could find some real dirt on Ian in these files, there’d be no turning back–she’d walk out on this marriage for good.
Chloe dragged the mouse all the way down, but there was still nothing suspicious.
Just when she was ready to give up, another name suddenly caught her eye.
Chris Hunter.
Ian’s half–brother.
The Hamiltons‘ best–kept secret–the illegitimate son no one ever talked about.
Chloe shot a nervous glance at the study door, then pointed at the screen. “Logan, break into this one for me as well?”
Arthur gave it a shot and instantly realized, “This one’s got extra protection.”
His eyes sparkled. “What could possibly be hidden in here that needs this level of encryption?”
His fingers flew across the keyboard. “Chloe, your husband’s got some serious skills.”
It wasn’t even on Chloe’s radar–she had way bigger things to worry about.
She kept nervously glancing at the study door. “Hurry up,” Chloe urged.
If Ian barged in and found her hiring someone to hack his computer, Chloe didn’t even want to think about
how badly things would blow up. She could feel her pulse racing just at the thought.
