Chloe’s words left lan so stunned, he nearly choked on his own response.

They faced each other at point–blank range, neither willing to back down.

In Chloe’s eyes, lan saw a resolve that couldn’t be shaken.

He stared at her, each word deliberate. “Are you sure you want to keep going like this?”

Chloe’s expression was dead serious. “I’m doing this for all of you.”

The air between them grew thick and heavy.

Chloe’s composed and resolute look began to spark lan’s anger.

Ian grabbed her shoulders, his grip tightening as he spoke every word clearly. “If you’re serious about this, then show some generosity. As long as you don’t regret it, that’s all that matters.”

Finishing his sentence, he roughly shoved her away and stormed off without looking back.

Chloe stumbled a step before she steadied herself, watching Ian get into his car and drive away.

He poured all his love into Andrea and their son, leaving nothing for Chloe.

And now he wanted Chloe to give up everything–her happiness, her dignity–just to keep their marriage together and fulfill his dream of true love with Andrea.

When it came to Andrea and their child, Ian was endlessly giving, never asking for anything in return.

He actually thought he could pull some tricks to force Chloe to be that devoted girl who worshipped him once upon a time.

But that version of Chloe–the girl whose whole world revolved around lan–was dead and gone.

It was around three in the afternoon in Chloe’s office.

Eric dropped a file on her desk. “Next week, a team of international experts is coming to check out our new department. There’ll be a TV crew following us the whole time. You’re the head of the department, so you’ll be hosting them. Start prepping now.”

Chloe was always passionate and energized when it came to work.

She replied with confidence, “Don’t worry, Eric. Mr. Logan’s treatment is in its final stage. It won’t be long before our department gets recognized across the country.”

No matter how much they talked about work, Chloe and Eric could go on forever and never run out of topics.

Patrick knocked and came in, placing the afternoon snack he’d brought for Chloe on her desk.

Eric chatted briefly before leaving Chloe’s office.

Patrick looked around and couldn’t help but praise, “Nice office.”

Chloe poured him a glass of water and handed it to him. “Eric’s always been really good to me.”

Patrick blurted out, “Honestly, literally any guy out there would treat you better than Ian.”

Chloe made a face. “I was just young and clueless, and totally fell for his looks.”

Patrick leaned back on the window, sipping his water. “You’re bending over backward to help those two get together. Honestly, Andrea probably goes to bed smiling every night thanks to you.”

He said, “She gets all the perks, and whenever things go south, she just dumps everything on you. Aren’t you worried the old guy will come after you if he finds out?”

Chloe peeled an orange and handed it over. “I’ve stopped caring about Ian for ages–why should I give a crap about that old man?”

She added, “If getting divorced means I have to be the villain, so be it. Honestly, I hope he hates me so much he’ll kick me out himself.”

Patrick straightened up and set his glass down. “Got a place reserved for a small hangout with some friends. tonight. Join us after work, and I’ll have Arthur come too.”

Chloe asked, “Is it cool if I bring Andrea?”

Patrick replied, “Yeah, go ahead.”

After Patrick left, Chloe wandered restlessly back and forth in front of the big windows, her thoughts swirling.

Then she picked up her phone and dialed two numbers.

One was an old friend she hadn’t talked to in forever, the other was Andrea.

It was a little past seven at the Royal Court Club.

Chloe waited near the dance floor for over ten minutes until a young man slipped something into her palm.

Her heart racing, she tucked it into her bag and made a quick getaway.

Still feeling like she was sneaking around, she headed up to the third floor, where Andrea and Arthur were already waiting for her by the door of their private room.

Chloe looked around the hallway. “Why are you guys still standing out here? Why didn’t you go in?”

Andrea looked a bit awkward. “I felt weird going in without you–don’t really know anyone in there.”

Arthur pulled Chloe in front of him. “Hey Chloe, you’re sweating. What’s going on?”

Chloe brushed Arthur aside and blurted out a quick excuse. “I was worried you’d been waiting too long, so I rushed up here. Got a little sweaty from running.”

On the outside, Chloe looked totally calm, but deep down, she was a nervous wreck.

Arthur might seem laid–back, but his sharp eyes missed nothing.

She’d have to be extra careful around him.

This was the perfect chance, and she wasn’t going to let it slip away.

She was dead set on making sure Ian and Andrea ended up sharing a bed tonight.

When the three walked into the private room, all the lively chatter instantly vanished, leaving the place in a strangely awkward silence.

Chloe smiled as she stepped in, “Hope you guys don’t mind, I brought two friends.”

Chloe flashed everyone a grin and cheerfully introduced Andrea and Arthur to the group.

Her gaze found the empty spot next to Ian, and she casually slung her bag off her shoulder, settling right into the seat by his side.

Chloe barely got her butt near the couch before Patrick swooped in and yanked her right back up.

He didn’t even pause–just slid Andrea straight into the seat next to Ian, like he’d been planning it all along.

Chloe blinked in shock, totally floored by Patrick’s bold stunt.

Mia, sitting on Ian’s other side, stood up and offered her seat. “Chloe, come sit here.”

Chloe was about to move over when Arthur grabbed her arm. “Chloe, let’s not get squeezed in with them.”

Chloe just stared in disbelief.
