Chloe was left completely baffled and hung up the phone.

A few minutes later, Chloe and Dr. James stood outside the master bedroom on the second floor of Rowe Estate, both feeling a little tense.
They shot each other a nervous look, then, after a moment’s hesitation, finally summoned their courage and walked in together.
Chloe eyed Julian warily. He was sitting in his wheelchair near the floor–to–ceiling windows, sunlight casting long shadows around him.
He wore black slacks and a dark red suit jacket with a plunging V–neck, paired with a black shirt whose collar gaped open all the way to his chest, letting a hint of his toned chest muscles peek through.
His facial features were striking and angular, his expression icy, his eyes carrying a dangerously sharp edge. A tiny red mole just beneath his left eye only made him seem more untamed, adding an extra layer of danger to his sultry aura.
Put simply he was wild, from his personality to his physique, even the look in his eyes.
Julian’s dangerous gaze locked onto Chloe. “So you’re Ian’s wife?”
His voice was deep and smoky, as if steeped in strong tea and heavy smoke, sending a shiver down Chloe’s spine.
Chloe corrected him, “Sir Julian, I’m your attending physician. My name is Chloe Irvine.”
Julian raised his hand, and his right–hand man quietly turned the wheelchair so Julian’s back faced them.
Julian said coldly, “I don’t want any of the Hamiltons treating me. Get out.”
Chloe and Dr. James exchanged a look.
Chloe hesitated, then said, “Sir Julian, Ian and I are in the middle of a divorce. I’m not really one of the Hamiltons anymore.”
The wheelchair slowly turned, and Julian’s eyes locked onto Chloe once again.
Chloe spoke up, sounding calm but direct. “Ian’s been treating me horrible, cheating on me, and even got some other woman to have his kid. I want you to recover quickly, Sir Julian, so you can help me get back at him and settle the score.”
Julian let out a low, almost lazy chuckle, but there was a magnetic, intimidating edge to it that made Chloe’s heart skip a beat.
He asked, “Who are you to me? Why should I stick up for you?”
Chloe replied, calm and composed, “You’re Jan’s uncle, after all. If your nephew messes around and his wife

gets bullied, it’s only natural for his uncle to step in and put him back in his place, don’t you think?”
Julian curled his lips into a cold sneer.
She’d barely finished saying she wasn’t one of the Hamiltons, and the next moment she was playing the family card, asking her “uncle” to stand up for her.
Julian’s gaze grew more intrigued, a spark of amusement flickering in his eyes as he looked at Chloe.
He said, “If you can really fix me up, I’ll help you get even with Ian–count on it.”
Julian’s promise made Chloe feel fired up inside.
After all, Julian was Ian’s uncle, and at this point, he was the only one she knew who had a real shot at putting Ian in his place.
Chloe said confidently, “I’ll give it my all to treat you, Sir Julian. If you doubt my abilities, I can have you talk to Arthur Logan–he suffered from stubborn insomnia, but he’s nearly fully recovered now. There’s just one more course of treatment left to lock it in.”
Julian raised an eyebrow. “You mean Arthur Logan, the youngest son in the Logan family?”
Chloe nodded, her tone calm. “Exactly. He’s the youngest son of the Logan family from Europe. I treated him in Tecnovia over half a year ago, and now he’s almost completely recovered.”
Noticing the dangerous edge in Julian’s presence fading away, Chloe gathered her nerves and stepped right up to him, lowering herself into a crouch at his side to show a little humility.
Chloe looked up to meet Julian’s gaze and said firmly, “Sir Julian, Dr. James and I will be here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon to take care of your treatment.”
Julian looked down at her and gave a slight nod.
Chloe spoke with steady confidence, “Looking at the treatments you’ve been on, we’ll begin each visit with twenty minutes of mental health counseling. After that, we’ll combine acupuncture, herbal remedies, singing bowl sessions, and nutritional therapy. Our goal is to help you rely less on medication–so we really need you to work with us, okay?”
They met each other’s gaze close up, the tension almost crackling between them.
Julian gave another slight nod.
Chloe let out a quiet sigh of relief.
By the time Chloe and Dr. James left Rowe Estate, it was almost nine o’clock.
Dr. James felt a bit embarrassed–he was a grown man, but lately he’d been letting Chloe drive him home every night.
He said, “Ms. Irvine, you can just drop me off up ahead. I’ll grab a cab from there.”

Chloe waved it off. “Mr. Jordan said our commute to Rowe Estate is covered. Your wife’s still recovering, so let me drive you–it’ll save you some time. We’re colleagues, so don’t be so formal with me.”
Chloe insisted on driving James all the way to his apartment complex before heading home herself.
When she got home, Chloe saw Ian out on the balcony, talking on the phone.
She walked into the dining room and spotted a casserole dish on the table. She reached out and touched it–it was still warm.
But Chloe wasn’t hungry at all.
After showering, Chloe started gathering her belongings, getting ready to move into the little guest room next door.
Ian stood firmly at the doorway, blocking her from leaving.
His expression was cold as he snatched the pillow out of her arms, then gripped her arm–pulling her, a bit roughly, right back into the bedroom. Chloe, surprised, felt a wave of resistance rise in her chest.
Ian flung the pillow onto the bed and stared straight into Chloe’s eyes, challenge in his voice. “So, what’s the point of being married if we’re just living in separate rooms?”
Chloe held out her hand, unfazed. “No problem, we can sleep together. But hand over your health report first -no report, no room.”
Ian grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her closer, pressing her palm flat against his chest. “I’m right here, Chloe. If you think I’ve got something wrong with me, why don’t you give me a personal check–up?”
Chloe burst out laughing at his teasing. “Are you telling me to risk myself for you? Seriously, who’s the real patient here–you or me?”
She yanked her hand back, grabbed her pillow, and headed for the door.
But Ian caught her around the waist, pulling her right back against him.
Ian narrowed his eyes at Chloe. “Why did you just hang up on me earlier?”
‘Great, there’s no way I’m slipping out of this one,‘ Chloe thought to herself.
She shoved Ian aside, stepped back twice, and settled down on the edge of the bed–putting some distance between them.
She said, “Alright, so what’s your angle for picking a fight tonight?”
Jan frowned. I’m just trying to talk to you, not argue.”
Chloe gave a cold laugh. “Let me guess–Andrea’s been whispering in your car again?”
Their eyes met in a silent stand–off, Jan’s expression turning downright stormy.

He snapped, “If you’re so set on thinking that way, suit yourself.”
Chloe’s lips curled into a frosty smirk.

Ian glared at Chloe. “So, this morning in the hospital parking lot, you threw cash at Andrea just to shame her? And then told your team to rough her up–is that the story now?”
