In the quiet room, the harder Chloe tried to break free, the more lan held on, refusing to let her go no matter
what.
Pretty soon, Chloe was covered in a light sheen of sweat.
She steadied herself, looked Ian in the eye, and said, word by word, “Ian, we’re divorced.”
Chloe went on, “Forget about Philip hugging me today to help me out–even if I slept with him, it has nothing to do with you.”
Before Chloe could get the words out, Ian cut her off, shouting, “Chloe, don’t you dare!”
Their eyes locked, just inches apart.
Chloe kept her cool and said, “Is there anything I wouldn’t dare? If I just nod my head, there’d be a line of men fighting to get into my bed.”
Before Chloe could finish her words, Ian completely lost control–his lips crashed down on hers.
Ian’s breathing grew heavy and ragged as he pulled Chloe into his arms, his possessiveness so fierce it felt like he might crush her.
His hungry hands expertly slipped down her shoulder straps, and his knuckle–defined fingers undid the clasp at the back of her dress as if he’d done it a thousand times.
With the sheer difference in strength, Chloe was utterly powerless to break free.
Her back loosened all of a sudden, and her heart seized tight with anxiety.
“Ian, are you crazy?” Chloe yelled, her voice shaking.
Chloe used every ounce of her strength to keep her dress from slipping off, determined not to let it fall.
Ian locked both hands around her waist; his voice was husky and rough, his eyes burning red with desire.
He moved with a gentle, seductive touch, trapping her in his arms. Ian nipped at her earlobe, his voice hard and possessive: “Chloe, you can only sleep with me.”
He growled, “Anyone who touches you, I’ll kill them.”
Chloe suddenly found herself a little scared of lan.
She’d always pegged him as a total scumbag, someone who was cold and dangerous.
She never thought he’d be this terrifying when he really lost it
Chloe, flustered and desperate, frantically shoved at lan, trying to break free

Ian leaned in, breathing in Chloe’s familiar scent, and couldn’t make himself let her go.

His commanding touch had his breath coming fast and uneven, every muscle tense as he fought against the urge to lose control.
He warned her, voice low and possessive, “Chloe, you’re mine. I won’t let anyone else even think about touching you.”
I’m panicking, scrambling, completely losing it,’ Chloe thought, overwhelmed by the chaos.
‘If I’d known it would turn into this mess, I would’ve just held it in and died out there instead of coming to this stupid bathroom, Chloe groused inwardly.
Just as the two were locked in a desperate struggle, Margaret’s voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.
Chloe went completely still, her heart leaping into her throat.
If anyone saw her and Ian like this, nothing she said could ever clear her name.
People always chase after those with power.
Everyone would just say Chloe’s in it for the Hamilton family money and can’t let go.
They’d call her a basic girl, desperate for Ian, the rich heir–throwing herself at him, hoping to win him back for a second chance.
Chloe hugged her dress to her chest, barely even breathing, frozen in place while Ian locked her firmly in his arms from behind, refusing to loosen his grip.
Soon, Patrick’s voice broke the tense silence outside the door as he told Margaret, “Ian’s downstairs.”
A few minutes later, Patrick knocked lightly. “It’s all clear. No one’s in the hallway–you can come out now,” he said, sounding almost casual.
lan reluctantly let Chloe go, the hesitation clear on his face.
Chloe frantically fixed her dress, messing with the fabric in a rush.
Smack!
Without a second thought, Chloe gave lan a slap right to his face,
They locked eyes for a long beat, the tension practically crackling between them.
Chloe didn’t let lan get a single word out–she threw the door open before he could even speak
Patrick was waiting right outside, his gaze instantly zeroing in on the marks along Chloe’s neck. He pointed silently toward the bathroom.
Chloe’s cheeks burned with embarrassment and she felt totally flustered.

She swept her long hair forward to hide her neck, then made a beeline for the bathroom.
Patrick walked in, and the air was still thick with the lingering intimacy from earlier.

He handed lan a cigarette with a teasing grin. “Kept your cool all night… then just one hug from Philip and you snapped, huh?”
Ian stepped over to the window, gripping a cigarette between his sharply outlined fingers.
With his back to Patrick, his face was completely hidden from view.
Patrick walked up beside Ian, a teasing smirk on his face. “Pretty sure I just heard someone get slapped in here?”
Ian reached up, absently grazing his fingertips over the spot on his cheek where Chloe had hit him.
He turned and gave Patrick a cold sideways glance, staying silent.
After Ian finished his cigarette, the two of them headed downstairs.
When Chloe stepped out of the bathroom, she borrowed a shawl from Sophie and draped it strategically over her shoulders to hide the hickeys on her neck.
She murmured a quick goodbye to Eric before slipping away early.
Arthur Logan playfully tugged at a tassel on Chloe’s shawl and asked, “Chloe, are you cold?”
Chloe kept her composure and brushed it off. “I just got my dress wet in the bathroom, so I’m just trying to cover it up, that’s all.”
Philip’s kid was starting to nod off and was ready to go home, so he and Chloe slipped out of the banquet hall together.
At the entrance, Simon grabbed tightly onto Chloe’s fingers, stubbornly refusing to let go. “Dad, I wanna go to Uncle’s place.
Philip hoisted Simon up in his arms and said, “Chloe’s really tired tonight, and she has to work tomorrow. You need to be good, okay?”
Simon puffed up his lips and whined, “Dad, come with me to Chloe’s house. Let’s all sleep there, and tomorrow you can drive her to work.”
Before Simon could finish, Arthur Logan came over and gave his car a playful tug. “Hey, you little rascal, I think you’re not just trying to find yourself a mom–you’re trying to set your dad up with a wife!”
Philip shot Chlor an apologetic look. “Sorry, Dr. Irvine. Kids say the darndest things. I’ll make sure to set him straight when we get home.”
After Philip and Simon left, Chloe, Carl, and Arthur all piled into the car together and headed home.
As Arthur drove, he muttered, “Chloe, that kid of Philip’s is way too smart for his own good. You’d better keep
