Mia leaned back slightly, giving Patrick a warning glance.

Although she thought Ian was undeserving, she still hoped Chloe could break free from this painful relationship.
But he was her brother.
After all lan was her brother, and deep down, she couldn’t help but hope Chloe wouldn’t divorce him.
But keeping it all inside like this wouldn’t work.
“Chloe, no matter what decision you make, I’ll support you. Even if you divorce my brother, my grandfather and my parents will never let Andrea and her son into the Hamilton family.”
Chloe looked at her with gratitude, then she curled her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.
Ian’s piercing words kept drilling into her mind and the torment made her wish she were dead.
Chloe said, “Patrick, could you lend me 300 million dollars? I’ll get divorced and pay you back in installments once I start making money.”
Patrick turned to stone, his expression frozen. “Why would getting a divorce need 300 million dollars”
Mia’s eyes nearly popped out of her head in shock. “Chloe, you don’t mean…?”
Chloe buried her head in arms, speaking in a muffled voice, “When the Irvine family went bankrupt and owed massive debts, he helped pay them off. Over the years, my parents and my brother have been supported by him. I owe him for all of this.”
Mia was stunned. She thought her brother was trying to make Chloe pay him back.
If that were true, it would be unforgivable.
Patrick’s sharp gaze kept flicking over Chloe’s face. He didn’t share Mia’s optimistic view.
He said cautiously, “You marrying Ian and him helping your family with the debts–that’s what he’s obligated to do. Even if you divorce, you don’t owe him anything. The time you spent with him isn’t something money can repay.”
Chloe lowered her head, feeling numb. “It has to be repaid, or I can’t divorce him.”
In Edward Hamilton’s study, she had made things clear. For her, there’s nothing to hide or worry about.
Patrick understood.
No wonder Ian Hamilton was so sure there would be no divorce. He was using money to trap Chloe, pushing her to submit to him. He had the money, but he couldn’t lend it.

It was clear lan didn’t want a divorce, and he had finally found something to nail Chloe. Patrick knew, if he messed it up, Ian would ruin his resort overnight and cut ties between their families.
Patrick showed a troubled expression.
Chloe, not wanting to put him in a tough spot, said. “Patrick, I was just kidding. I know what Ian’s like. I won’t let you guys fall out because of me. I’ll figure out the money myself.”
Patrick quickly apologized. “Have you two had lunch yet? A new French restaurant opened downtown. Let’s try it.”
Chloe wasn’t in the mood, “Mia, you and Patrick go ahead, I’m not hungry.”
Chloe didn’t move, and neither did Mia. “You’re not hungry, neither am I.”
Patrick suggested, “How about I take you both out for a walk? It’s not great to just stay at home all the time.”
Chloe thought for a while and agreed.
She needed to get out, to clear her head from the thoughts that were driving her mad.
After a quick wash and a change of clothes, Chloe put on a pair of flats and left with them.
In the afternoon, Patrick took them to a supermarket in the city center. “Pick whatever you want, I’ll pay.”
Chloe was thankful, managing a faint smile.
They took the elevator to the second floor. Patrick went to get some coffee.
Mia pulled Chloe toward the women’s section. “Chloe, wait here, I wanna buy some pads.”
Chloe nodded.
They arrived at the section with sanitary products, and Mia started picking out items from a shelf.
Chloe walked over to another shelf and immediately saw Ian.
He was holding a pack of sanitary pads in one hand and a phone in the other, talking on the phone.
Chloe could clearly hear his voice.
He was saying, “Andrea, which brand do you usually use? I’ll bring some for you.”
His tone was gentle, full of patience.
The fancy suit couldn’t mask the strong vibe of a married man he gave off.
They had been married for three years, and the only time she ever asked Ian to buy her sanitary pads, he told her to buy in bulk online to save the hassle. In the end, he had his female assistant buy them and deliver them.

And now after all that drama between them, he could still leave her at home and call his sister to be with her.
So he hurriedly rushed out, just to buy sanitary pads for Andrea.
Chloe’s vision blurred, and she nearly passed out.
“Chloe!”
Fortunately, Mia quickly rushed over and caught her.
Hearing the sound, Ian turned and unexpectedly to find Chloe’s eyes filled with despair.
Ian threw aside all the items and walked towards Chloe.
Mia shouted at mad, “What are you doing, Ian?!”
Ian shot her a warning glance, then carefully approached Chloe. “What are you doing out here?”
His finger hadn’t even touched Chloe’s clothes before she screamed and pulled away. “Don’t touch me!”
Seeing Chloe so scared, Ian didn’t dare make any sudden moves.
Chloe wrapped her arms around herself and backed away desperately, her whole body in a panic state.
She looked at the man in front of her, feeling like she could barely breathe.
She had to leave here as soon as possible.
Chloe pushed Ian aside and turned to run.
