Selina calmly plugged the flash drive into the computer and broke the code into several segments, transmitting a message to the outside world in an extremely discreet way—
...
One day later, at Reid Group.
Jack rushed in. "Sir, the main system was just hit again—by the same hacker from five years ago!"
The moment Logan heard "five years ago," his instincts kicked in.
Luna...
Selina had never outright admitted she was Luna, but through Logan’s subtle probing, they both understood he’d figured it out long ago. After that, the topic had quietly disappeared—Luna became just a name from the past, like a mischievous hacker who vanished without a trace.
Until now.
The Reid Group system had been breached again—and the attacker was still Luna.
If Luna is Selina... then this is a message from her.
Logan took a deep breath. "Pull it up."
The cybersecurity team prepared for a crisis, only to hear Mr. Reid calmly say, "It’s fine." Everyone looked at each other, confused.
"Can we trace it?" Logan asked.
The head of security shook his head. "Not at the moment. If we really push it, maybe in ten days..."
Logan gave a curt nod and looked at the message Selina had sent—lines of tightly packed dots. His expression darkened.
"Everyone out," he ordered.
Jack was puzzled. "Is that... Morse code?"
For the first time in days, Logan’s eyes held a trace of a smile. "Yes. It’s Morse."
Once decoded, Logan finally breathed easier—Selina was safe.
But then his face turned grim again.
She’d been kidnapped by Jacob. Location unknown. And Jacob said the imposter had connections to the Morris Family—possibly even the Nelson Family. Selina couldn’t leave for now, so she needed Logan to keep playing along with the fake—to investigate and expose whoever was behind her.
Logan’s stomach clenched.
What if his probing pushed the imposter into a corner? What if they panicked and hurt Selina?
Part of him wanted to abandon all caution, storm the villa, and force the truth out of the fake woman.
Jacob. The Carter Family... Logan’s eyes turned cold.
"Start digging into every property Jacob owns. No—go broader. Investigate the entire Carter Family. Every member."
Jack, who could also read Morse, had already seen the message.
He was floored.
Why does Luna sound so familiar with Mr. Reid?
Why did she say Jacob kidnapped her?
And what the hell does she mean there’s a fake Selina?
A horrifying realization crept into Jack’s mind...
"You’re thinking it," Logan said quietly. "And you’re right."
"Tell no one except Jaxon. Not even Luke. Not even Miller Butler."
Jack froze. Not even them?
"But sir... do you suspect them?"
Logan was silent.
"Miller Butler is old," he finally said. "If he knew, he’d only worry himself sick. As for Luke..."
Logan frowned. "He’s not exactly brilliant. He’ll blow the whole thing."
Jack: "..." That’s fair.
There was one more thing Logan didn’t say aloud:
The fake Selina seemed very confident Luke wouldn’t notice anything off.
"Sir, Old Mr. Carter mentioned wanting to visit Master Luke’s stables, but Master Luke turned him down. Should I send word to Mr. Carter?"
Logan replied casually, "Old Mr. Carter?"
"Yes, sir. The old man said it’s been a long time since you returned to the Carter Family. He also said..."
Jack adopted an awkward expression and bowed his head slightly. "He said if you still consider him your ’father,’ it’d be good to visit sometime."
Jack spoke without lowering his voice or shielding the woman from the conversation.
Because, as far as the world knew, this woman was Selina—and Selina would know this history. She knew Old Mr. Carter had once adopted Logan. She knew about the longstanding feud between Logan and the Carter Family.
If it were the real Selina, she wouldn’t be surprised.
But if it were a fake...
Jack watched closely.
The imposter didn’t flinch. Not even a flicker of confusion crossed her face. Instead, she furrowed her brows and, in Selina’s exact voice, said, "Old Mr. Carter still has the nerve to call himself your father? Disgusting."
Jack’s heart sank. Logan’s eyes darkened instantly.
The tone, the voice, the expression—it was all spot-on. If not for the fact that Logan had lived with the real Selina day and night, even he might not be able to tell the difference.
And somehow, this woman knew all about Logan’s past with the Carter Family.
She wasn’t shocked. She even chimed in with a perfectly in-character response.
If they hadn’t already known she was a fake, Jack would’ve believed it himself.
Could it be... the Carter Family trained her?
But why? What would they gain from replacing Selina?
"Forget them," Logan said coolly. "Since Thomas is so fond of collecting sons, maybe send a few good-looking young men his way."
Jack gave a subtle nod. "Yes, sir."
Logan kept his expression unreadable. "We’ve arrived. Let’s get out."
