Grandma Perry only cast a faint glance at the people outside the door, and they immediately caught on.
Then she said coolly, "Ronald plagiarized Selina. Owen truly didn’t know? Amelia truly didn’t know?"
Grandpa Perry’s face flushed red. "How could Amelia and Owen possibly know..."
"Heh." Grandma Perry curled her lips in a cold smile. "Why don’t you go ask your precious adopted daughter and your precious grandson, see if they really knew nothing about Ronald’s plagiarism. And even if—let’s say—they didn’t know..."
Bang—
Grandma Perry slammed the watering can in her hand down hard, her expression icy. "On what grounds do you demand Selina’s forgiveness?"
Grandpa Perry’s face grew even redder. "Can’t you think about the bigger picture for once?! All Selina has to do is nod, and yet she refuses. You... shameless woman!"
Grandma Perry gave a short, cutting laugh and shot back, "So that’s the Perry Family—selfish to the bone. As long as it isn’t your own honor that’s been plagiarized, you think Selina is being unreasonable and ignoring the bigger picture? Then tell me—what exactly has your precious grandson done for the bigger picture?"
"Ronald plagiarized a perfumer from Country M, insulted Country M’s perfumers as second-rate and unworthy of the stage. It was Selina and Logan who stood up and turned the tide. And Owen? He threw his support behind a foreign plagiarist to suppress his own country’s perfume industry. And you still dare claim Owen was thinking of the bigger picture?"
"Daisy Green!" Grandpa Perry barked furiously, sensing the shift in the eyes of the people outside.
Daisy Green was Grandma Perry’s given name. For so many years, everyone had called her Mrs. Perry, or Grandma Perry. It had been a very, very long time since anyone had addressed her as Daisy.
Daisy froze for a second or two, then gave a sharp, scornful laugh. "What, did I say something wrong? Didn’t Owen support Ronald in plagiarizing his own country’s perfumers? Didn’t he help Ronald crush his own country’s perfume industry? And didn’t you demand that your own country’s perfumers bow their heads and ’forgive’ them for Owen and Ronald’s sake?"
"You—you... this hasn’t risen to that level. We’re all family here..."
Grandpa Perry realized he had slipped, but before he could finish, an angry voice cut in from outside:
"No wonder Lady Green moved out of the Perry Family! The Perry Family really is shameless—what twisted logic is this?! Owen joined forces with a plagiarist dog from Country Y to suppress Piper and crush Country M’s perfume industry, and now you expect Piper to bow down?!"
"Owen can’t tell right from wrong, siding with a plagiarist to trample on originality. And Grandpa Perry still defends him—has he lost his mind?!"
"Quick, spread the word! No one should ever cooperate with the Perry Family—or with Owen. Otherwise, they’ll be sold out without even knowing it."
"My god, why is Owen so intent on helping foreign perfumers suppress his own country’s? Could he be... a traitor?"
"Shut up!" Grandpa Perry’s heart dropped. He knew if this went on any further, disaster would strike. He turned back, roaring furiously:
"Daisy! Owen is Anna’s son. Do you even think of Anna when you speak this way? Do you want Anna to turn in her grave?!"
Daisy sneered, her eyes suddenly sharp as blades. "Anna’s son?"
"Didn’t I warn you not to bring that up in front of me again? I made myself clear enough on Anna’s death anniversary. Grandpa Perry, if you don’t want me to expose the truth about Owen and Amelia’s identities, then you’d better keep your mouth shut and stop provoking me."
"Otherwise..."
Daisy gracefully brushed her shawl, flicking away a fallen leaf—as though Grandpa Perry, too, were nothing but useless trash in her eyes.
"Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to drag the Perry Family down to ruin with me. After all, my daughter is dead. I have nothing left to care about. Do you understand?"
Grandpa Perry ground his teeth. "You crazy—"
Before the words crazy woman could even leave his mouth, Daisy cut in coldly.
"If he won’t leave properly, then throw him out. Butler!"
"Yes, Madam."
The next moment, Grandpa Perry was beaten and kicked out the door. "You dare hit me! You dare kick me—ahhh, Daisy, you lunatic, you maniac!"
Daisy glanced back at him coldly, not sparing him even a look.
