Chapter 230
Salome’s sore spot was hit right on the mark by a complete stranger online.
All the effort she’d poured into crafting her image–gone, destroyed in just a few cutting remarks.
Shaking with anger, Salome could barely get her words out. “I can’t believe this person! They’re saying the only reason I’m allowed to stay at this center is because I’m pregnant. That’s complete slander! I’m calling a lawyer!*
Heather, ever patient, tried to soothe her. “Don’t waste your breath on people like that. Who knows, maybe it’s that witch Edith stirring things up, jealous that you’re finally happy. She probably started all this online just to drag you down. Once your baby’s born, we’ll settle the score with her properly.”
At the mention of Edith, Salome lost what little composure she had left.
Her eyes turned red, and she ground her teeth, swearing to herself that if she didn’t get revenge on Edith, she’d change her last name.
Still sobbing, Salome called Beckett.
“Honey, Edith is doing this on purpose! She’s out there slandering me online, saying I only got into this expensive maternity center because of the baby. I want to get a lawyer!”
Salome was crying so hard Beckett could hardly understand her. Urged on by Heather, he had no
choice but to come over.
When he arrived at the elegant suite, Salome was curled up on the bed. The moment she heard the door, her sobs grew louder, and her tears and snot flowed freely.
Beckett walked in to the sound of her wailing. Annoyance flickered across his face.
