Chapter 12 My Problems Are None of Your Business

Rachel also realized she had almost let the pregnancy slip. Meeting Harry’s gaze, she turned her face away. “You’re already divorced. What does it matter to you?”

“It doesn’t matter, and I don’t want it to.” Harry’s voice was low. “Mom, she and I are already

divorced.”

Rachel stared into Harry’s eyes. “My relationship with Cathy is none of your business. Just because you’re divorced doesn’t mean we have to stop seeing each other. Since when do you control who I spend time with?”

Harry must be upset that she was giving that homewrecker trouble, so he was deliberately making things difficult for Catherine too. The more Rachel thought about it, the angrier she became.

Catherine was carrying a Zimmerman child in her belly. But even without the baby, Rachel wouldn’t cut ties with her.

“Just get some rest.” Harry turned and opened the door.

Rachel grabbed a pillow and threw it at Harry, but she missed. “I refuse to acknowledge you as my son, you bastard!”

Harry left without comment. While walking through the hallway, he saw Catherine waiting for the elevator. He walked over and stood beside her.

Catherine tensed up when she saw him. Harry’s tone was indifferent as he said, “If more money, just ask. There’s no need to try to get attention from my mother.”

She was stunned. “Is that really how you see me?”

“Am I wrong?” Harry’s tone was mocking. “How else did we end up married? Catherine, you should know when to stop pushing.”

Catherine gripped her bag tighter, and her tone turned cold. “Whatever. I never did what you’re accusing me of anyway.”

“Whether you did or not, you know the truth in your heart.” Harry held a cigarette between his fingers. Wisps of smoke obscured half his face.

His tone carried a warning. “My mother isn’t someone you can use. I’m letting it slide this time, but next time, I won’t be so understanding.”

Catherine laughed coldly and looked away. “Believe whatever you want.”

Just then, the elevator doors opened. Harry stubbed out his cigarette and stepped inside, reminding her, “Since we’re divorced, I hope you understand certain boundaries. Keep your distance from people you shouldn’t be getting close to.”

He suspected she was deliberately getting close to Rachel? Catherine found it ridiculous. She came to see Rachel out of genuine concern.

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll stay far away from you, Harry, and everyone in the Zimmerman family. And please don’t ever come before me again!”

Just how much did Harry despise her to think so poorly of her?
