Mr. CEO's Regret: Win Back His Ex-wife novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31 He Still Cares About His Wife

Harry received the accident report Adrian had retrieved when the meeting ended. His gaze darkened the moment his eyes landed on the line stating the brakes had been deliberately tampered with.

He placed the report on the desk. His voice carried an icy edge even he didn’t notice. Once you find out who did it, bring them to me.

Adrian nodded. He thought of how Harry had risked his life to save Catherine and hesitated before carefully asking, Mr. Zimmerman, is there some misunderstanding between you and Mrs. Zimmerman?

Harry looked up and shot him a sharp glance. Since when did you get so talkative?

He helped Catherine only for the sake of Rachel. He had no intention of being entangled with her again. Besides, what misunderstanding could there even be between them?

Adrian rubbed his nose and lowered his head as he said, It just seems that you still care abou Mrs. Zimmerman

The fact that he hadn’t divorced her was proof enough.

Harry cut him off. Get out.

Adrian responded faintly and glanced at him hesitantly before adding, Mr. Zimmerman, Jeremy is also investigating this matter.

Harry’s tone was now tinged with obvious displeasure. Get out!

Adrian slipped away immediately.

Harry found Adrian’s words laughable. How could he possibly care about Catherine? She was such a vain and calculating woman. He loathed her more than enough.

Suddenly, the memory of Catherine’s tearreddened eyes during the Quinn family incident flashed through his mind, sending a pang of heartache through him.

She had begged him for help back then, and he had brushed her off with the excuse of being busy with work. Now that he thought about it, he wondered if Catherine’s car accident had anything to do with the trouble that had befallen the Quinn family.

If he could think of that, then surely Catherine had too.

Adrian’s efficiency was as sharp as ever. The saboteur was caught within two days.

Harry looked at the young man who was kneeling before him. He flipped through the man’s file and realized he had no connection to the Quinn family.

Damian Cross, is it?He closed the file and tossed it aside. Out with it. Who put you up to this?

Damian remained silent. He kept his head down and stared at the ground.

Harry’s gaze flicked up. Adrian approached the man from the side and grabbed his hair before yanking his head up. Mr. Zimmerman asked you a question!

Damian cried out in pain and was forced to meet Harry’s gaze.

Who ordered you to tamper with the brakes?Harry forced himself to remain patient and asked again.

But those who knew him well understood that this was precisely when he was at his least patient.

Damian grimaced in pain. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Harry wasn’t one to resort to violence. Yet, he wanted to make an exception this time.

He walked toward Damian and ground his heel hard down on his fingers. Do you know what I’m talking about now?

Ah!Damian curled up in pain, but Harry was stepping too hard for him to break free.

A layer of cold sweat broke out on his forehead and dripped down his face, yet he persisted in his evasive defense. I truly don’t know what you’re talking about

You don’t know, do you?Harry lifted his foot before standing up to pick up a short blade. A sharp gleam flashed, and Harry noticed him swallow nervously.

You don’t have to talk. But I’ll take your fingers off one by one until you do.Harry crouched down and stared straight into Damian’s eyes.

He pressed the blade to Damian’s pinky joint and exerted a little force before blood began to

ooze out.

Damian broke out in a cold sweat and realized Harry wasn’t joking. He truly would cut off his fingers. His body suddenly went limp. I’ll talk! I’ll talk!

Harry put the blade away and sneered. I gave you a chance to speak, but you chose the hard way.
