The doctor removed his mask and smiled. “She’s fine. The shock affected the pregnancy, and she sustained some superficial injuries. She can rest for a day and be discharged tomorrow.”
Harry breathed a sigh of relief. He turned around to look at Michelle. “What were you trying to tell me earlier?”
Michelle’s smile froze. Her expression darkened slightly as she said, “It’s nothing.”
The man on the phone had clearly said Catherine was dead. Why was she lying here perfectly fine in the hospital?
This was how they handled things after taking her money!
She gritted her teeth so hard that her molars ached.
She tried to call the number again, but the phone was turned off.
She smashed her phone in the restroom. Her chest heaved with rage. How dare they lie to her!
Night passed.
The sunlight streamed through the window. Catherine instinctively lifted the blanket to shield her eyes and opened them slowly. The first thing she saw was Harry sitting by her bed.
Her eyes widened as she stared warily at him. “What are you doing here?”
Her voice was hoarse and raspy when she spoke.
His tone was a little mocking. “Do you think I would’ve come if the hospital hadn’t called me? Don’t give me that look. The child is fine.”
He had stayed by her side through the night. Yet, she looked so anxious when she woke up. was as if he had done some unforgivable things to her.

He immediately noticed a handprint on her face. It was clear that she had been struck. His expression instantly darkened. “What happened to your face?”

He then recalled the four–million–dollar transfer from last night, and his face grew darker. ” What happened last night?”
Her eyes immediately reddened at the mention of the matter. Her body trembled in fear uncontrollably.
The ward door burst open before she could reply.
Michelled walked in, carrying breakfast in her hand with a bright smile. “You’re awake. Perfect timing. Let’s have breakfast together.”
Catherine tensed up the moment she saw her.
She felt that her smile somehow carried an unsettling and terrifying undertone, especially after she had learned what she had done.
Harry turned to Michelle and said, “Thank you for coming.”
“It was nothing.” Michelle set down the breakfast. Her expression appeared exceptionally gentle and harmless as she turned to Catherine and said, “I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I bought a little of everything.”
Catherine gripped the sheets so hard that her knuckles turned pale. Her voice trembled as she pointed at the door and said coldly, “Get out!”
Harry frowned. His phone rang just as he was about to speak. “I’ll step out for a moment.”
Michelle hint of amusement. “Have some breakfast first.”
