Chapter 71 We Should Live Together for a While
When Harry came out, Catherine was lying on the bed with her back to him. Just one glance at her made his suppressed desire flare up again.
He forced himself to look away. His throat was dry as he asked, ” Do you want to take a bath?”
Catherine murmured softly in agreement, barely able to open her eyes.
Harry filled the bathtub with water, then carried Catherine into it. While washing her body, he said in a low voice, “Think about what I said.”
Catherine opened her eyes, cold and distant. “There’s nothing to think about. I will raise my
own child.”
Harry went silent for a moment. “Do you really have to push things to the point where no one’s happy?”
Catherine’s voice was weak after their intimacy. “You got one thing wrong. You were the one
who made me unhappy first,” she said.
They locked eyes for a brief moment. Harry slid his hand into the warm water and pressed his palm against Catherine’s stomach. He became more assertive, and his dark eyes fixed on her
face as he smiled carelessly.
“Catherine, I can have someone take the baby away the moment it is born. Do you really think you can stop me then?” he said.
Catherine suddenly lifted her head and looked at Harry, her gaze unusually cold. Once the
warmth had faded, all that remained between them was indifference and mutual hostility.
Harry lifted Catherine out of the bathtub and gently set her on the bed. “Catherine, the child isn’t just yours alone. Don’t push me into doing that.”
With that gentle and caring demeanor, it was hard to believe that he could speak such threatening words calmly.
Catherine pushed his hand away and said hoarsely, “Stay away from me.”
She didn’t want any contact with Harry.
Harry took a step back and said half-mockingly, “So now you’re disgusted with me? Then why were you clinging to me just a moment ago?”
Catherine put on her clothes and patted Harry’s chest lightly. “Don’t flatter yourself. You’re

Harry’s expression darkened.

“You’re not the only man in the world, Harry. If it were any other man, I would have clung to him the same way.”
Catherine turned to leave, but her wrist was caught.
Harry spoke with an unreadable smile, his tone leaving no room for refusal. “For the sake of the child, I think we should live together for a while, at least until the child is born.”
Catherine looked back and let out a laugh of disbelief. “You should be ashamed of yourself. We’re already divorced.”
Harry was already sick, and taking a cold bath only worsened his condition.
“It’s only for the baby,” he said.
Catherine shook his hand off.
Harry’s body wavered, but he was still forcing himself to stay upright. Seeing the anger on her face, he softened his tone. “Catherine, maybe we can both take a step back—”
“We have nothing to talk about,” she said. She turned and walked away.
Harry was utterly determined to have the child, and Catherine didn’t believe that any
discussion would end well. She braced herself for the worst, determined to do whatever it took to keep him from getting his way.
She went downstairs and saw Rachel.
Rachel touched her forehead and reminded her, saying, “Take good care of yourself. Call me anytime if something comes up.”
She had intended to bring up Harry, but just by looking at Catherine’s expression, she could tell the two hadn’t reached an agreement.
