Chapter 309
~Author’s POV~
It was one of the quarterly Alpha Summit Celebrations.
The ballroom of the Crescent Crown Hotel glistened under the glow of a thousand fae-lights floating midair, casting soft glimmers across polished floors.
The Alpha Summit had drawn together leaders from every region—North, East, South, and West—and the energy in the room buzzed with power, pride, and secrets.
Dressed in ceremonial attire, alphas and their councils mingled, exchanging greetings, firm handshakes, and glasses of bloodwine and champagne.
A distant string quartet played something hauntingly regal. Pack colours were subtly woven into silk sashes and embroidered suits.
Thai wasn’t just a meeting; it was a battlefield of alliances, hushed negotiations, and matchmaking.
And after the death of the Southern Alpha, they decided to hold the summit/ball once every quarter rather than annually to foster closeness amongst the packs.
Alpha Draven stood near the northern archway beside the elegant and poised Luna Supreme, whose dark burgundy gown hugged her like royalty.
Her mate, Alpha Dominic of the Silver Willow Pack, towered behind her in a midnight ceremonial outfit lined with silver thread, sipping from a crystal goblet.
"She’s just turned eighteen, you know," Luna Supreme was saying with a fond smile. "Still hasn’t found her mate yet."
Alpha Dominic grunted softly, nodding. "Wouldn’t it be something if she mated into one of the Great Four packs?"
Alpha Draven chuckled. "I am so sure she’d make a fine Luna... Perhaps even for Kai."
Luna Supreme’s eyes gleamed with interest. "I thought so too."
"Speaking of Kai..." Dominic looked around the grand hall, his gaze scanning the clusters of nobles and warriors. "Where is he? The other heirs are all present."
"Oh, he’s on his way," Draven said easily, swirling his drink. "Got held up with something, but he should arrive any moment now."
"Excellent," Dominic replied. "When he does, I’ll introduce him to her."
"I can’t wait," Draven said with a small nod, just as a sudden chill cut through the warm air of the ballroom.
They turned. Most of the alphas around turned to see who it was.
Alpha Alexander had arrived—again. After arriving, he had stepped outside with his beta for something, and since then, he’d been making sure security was amped.
He was sharply dressed, lean, and dangerous looking.
His presence was like ice melting under pressure. He smirked and raised a glass of champagne in mock salute.
"Alpha Alexander," Alpha Draven greeted. "Come and join us."
"Ah, no," Alpha Alexander replied smoothly. "I wouldn’t want to intrude on wedding arrangements."
"Nonsense," Luna Supreme waved her hand, laughing lightly. "We’re all one, after all. Tell me, Dristan is of age now. Who will be the lucky girl?"
Alpha Alexander chuckled. "I would have said your daughter, but Draven beat me to it. So..." his gaze flickered around a little slowly, while he tapped lightly on his chin and then brought his focus to them. "I’ve set my eyes on the Golden Claw Pack’s heiress."
Eyes widened all around.
"No one’s ever truly seen her," Luna Supreme murmured, clearly intrigued.
"I like mystery," Alexander said with a devilish glint. "And I believe she comes of age this month. Perfect timing to introduce them."
"Unfortunately, Alpha Zade wouldn’t be bringing her out of his glorified prison. So Dristan can’t meet her now," Luna Supreme assumed.
"True, but that is why the negotiations, I mean introductions, begin now and then, after her birthday, or during, they would meet."
"You’re one ambitious man," Alpha Dominic noted with a warm, amused tone.
"Am I?" Alpha Alexander asked, raising a brow.
"You’re clearly aiming for the Southern region. Impressive."
Alexander’s smirk deepened. "Alpha Gold isn’t the Southern Alpha King."
"No," Alpha Draven agreed. "But he’s the closest power after the Ivory Crescent Pack—the late Alpha Snow’s territory."
There was a brief silence before Alexander spoke, softer now. "I had hoped Dristan would one day unite with Alpha Snow’s daughter, Valerie Snow... before her untimely passing."
Draven simply hummed in response. "He always loves the big fish."
Alpha Alexander chuckled, taking a sip from his wine. "Well, if Kai had turned out to be a girl, then sure thing. I’d ship Dristan off to win his... I mean her hand in marriage."
"Thankfully, he is a guy. I bet Dristan cannot handle Kai."
They turned to the side to see Alpha Zeno standing there in a black and navy blue suit, embroidered with the finest threads.
"Alpha Zeno," Luna Supreme chirped happily as soon as she saw him.
"I wish that joy in greeting me is to tell me your beautiful cherry would be my in-law?"
"Ouch, too late, Zeno, Draven beat you to it," Alpha Alexander informed him.
Alpha Zeno looked slightly sad and shocked, but more playful than serious.
"Draven gets all the goodies, leaving us behind."
"Speak for yourself, Zeno. Alexander is aiming for the Southern heiress’s cousin."
Zeno gasped, and Alexander smirked, then winked.
Suddenly, all of them burst out laughing.
"Sigh, I better find a good match for my boy Axel."
"I’m sure you will find. After all, he is freaking Alpha Axel Zeno, heir to the West Alpha King," Alpha Dominic hyped.
"Sure, sure..."
Just then, a herald’s voice rang out.
